QA Level 2 Award In CitizenAID (RQF)

5.0(50)

By Pochat Training

This QA Level 2 Award in citizenAID (RQF) course is a half-day course to teach the skills and knowledge needed in case one finds themselves in the middle of a terrorist attack. The skills are also usable in any event where there might be either multiple or severely injured people. PAST ATTENDEES SAID:  Attended the citizen aid course this week, absolutely brilliant. Whilst we all hope that we are never involved in a major incident, the big question though would be are we prepared, what would we do? This course discusses various incidents and some are uncomfortable to think about, but if something happened most people panic, after this course you are likely to stay calm, take control and above all save lives. This course is for everyone due to the current threats in the world, However large companies especially should consider training their staff, it may save your life or someone close to you. Highly recommended, well presented and really interesting. BENEFITS OF THIS COURSE: * Following several terrorist attacks that have claimed the lives of countless victims and left many in hospital with critical injuries, both in the UK and abroad, it has been clear that normal, everyday people can save each other's lives with the right levels of training * This course, together with the citizenAID Phone App [https://www.citizenaid.org/home] and a pocket guide, has been designed by both highly experienced military and civilian clinicians * This course will teach you what to do during a terrorist-related, or 'simply' a serious accident, where casualties can suffer from severe trauma. It is specifically designed to help people react safely, prioritise the injured and give life-saving first aid to the casualties * RUN - HIDE - TELL - TREAT * Watch this short, 4 ½ minute video by the Counter Terrorism Police UK on how to stay as safe as possible during firearms and weapons attacks * Whether work is causing or aggravating mental health problems, employers have a legal responsibility toward their employees * Fortunately, these events are rare, but when they do happen, being prepared can save your life, and that of others * Where a risk is identified, steps must be taken to remove it or reduce it as far as reasonably practicable * This half-day course gives people a good awareness of mental health in the workplace * Better still, of course, is to do this citizenAID course with us, which will help a lot more! COURSE CONTENTS * Active shooter or knife attacker scenario * Shooting incident * Suspect bombs * Exploded bomb * Casualty first look * Severe bleeding * Tourniquets * Haemostatic Dressings * Unresponsive casualty * Broken Bones * Burns * Casualty handover ACCREDITED, OFQUAL REGULATED QUALIFICATION Our citizenAID course is a nationally recognised, Ofqual regulated qualification accredited by Qualsafe Awards and taught by an experienced trainer. If you have ever been among trees in a woodland, listening to the birds, walking, or simply searching for some silence, you have already experienced the Japanese practice of shrin-yoku or forest bathing. In Japanese, “shinrin” means forest and “yoku” means bath, or immersing oneself in the forest and soaking in the atmosphere through the senses. Breathing deeply and finding peace in nature has a massive positive role on your body and mind. Plants release substances from their leaves that are effective in positively stimulating the immune system, as many studies have proved. Forgetting your mobiles and usual busy schedule, in the magic atmosphere of nature , you will take this time off for yourself only to re-build and re-create the cycle that naturally links human beings with nature as a part of the whole. It will be your slowing down time to re-connect literally with your roots.  Some time of digital detoxing will help you to pay attention to your breath, to use all of your senses, to meditate while walking, to dance freely, to stay silent. When did you last touch a tree trunk, or notice the symphony of animals and leaves dancing around you? This class is sponsored by the National Lottery Community Fund. It is FREE and is aimed at  WOMEN only from ETHNIC MINORITY BACKGROUNDS living in Edinburgh .  (Irish, any other white background, mixed ethnic, Asian/Asian British, Black/African/Caribbean, Black British, Arabic or other ethic groups) We prioritize the area of Gorgie-Dalry-Saughton where our studio is based.  By attending this class you release the teacher, Giada Gaslini and Art and Spirituality Cic, from any liability arising out of any personal injuries, emotional or physical release, death, expectations of results, theft in the venue or damages that may happen to people and objects while attending.

Movement for Calmis an exercise-based workshop exploring yogic and muscle relaxation techniques from a range of practices. The aim is to release tension within the body. When we are stressed or anxious, we produce adrenaline, the 'fight' or 'flight' chemical response. Movement for Calm will help explore ways to restore balance to the chemical reactions produced in the body, loosening muscles and in turn calming both body and mind. This workshop has been developed for forward-thinking organisations wanting to make a real commitment to improving workplace wellbeing. This workshop will help participants identify areas of tension in the body, and learn exercises and movement-based sequences to release anxiety and stress caused by unnecessary muscle tension. The aim is that people leave the workshop relaxed and refreshed, ready to take on the toughest of corporate challenges.

The Mind-Body Connection: Emotion, Movement and Calm

By Human Givens College

The latest mind body research gives us profound insights into the effects on mental health of 'physical' factors, including breathwork and time in Nature, new ways to improve mental and physical health, and more… -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This wide-ranging day will deepen your knowledge of the mind-body system and the impact ‘physical factors’ can have on our emotions, state of mind and memory – with additional ways to help people quickly and effectively… -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * Accredited CPD: 6 hours * Length: 1 day (9.30am - 4.00pm) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- > A brilliant framework to understand the neurobiology of our needs and how to > manage stress > > DR ALLY JAFFEE, NHS DOCTOR -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WHY TAKE THIS COURSE Having a deeper understanding of the latest research into the effects on mental health of ‘physical’ factors – such as movement and exercise, time in Nature, ‘breathwork’ and real-time connection with others – enables us to tailor powerful therapeutic interventions and deliver more informed psycho-education. This jam-packed day also covers the physiology of responses such as ‘freeze, fight or flight’, the effects of physical activity on emotional, mental, memory and brain health, why stress can become chronic, the many ways we can activate our innate capacity to restore calm through our breath and attention, why these relaxation techniques work and what they do for us physically. The findings you will explore on the workshop have implications for many areas of mental health, even addiction, and give us additional ways to help people resolve many difficulties quickly and effectively, as well as improve overall health. The HG approach recognises that meeting our emotional needs and using our resources well are key to good mental health – yet the impact of ‘physical’ factors on our emotions and state of mind can be just as profound. Even though our physical needs may appear obvious – a healthy diet, regular physical exercise etc – we know that most of the chronic diseases sweeping through the Western World are linked to “lifestyle”, indicating that many people are not actually meeting their physical needs in healthy balanced ways – despite the vast array of information available to them. Finding clarity about how best to meet our own physical needs can also help us maintain our capacity to help others. Throughout the day, Dr Andrew Morrice, a practising GP, draws on both the latest research and his decades of experience managing the complex combination of mental and physical health problems in General Practice (20 of those years using the Human Givens model). We will sift the sense from the nonsense, and see the fundamentals behind the buzzwords and trends, making it easier to think clearly about our own health as well as that of our patients or clients… > Really insightful course with an amazing way into practical applications of > the HG concepts... > > ALIYA DRAKE, HG THERAPIST WHAT WILL YOU LEARN * How the now well-known human ‘needs and resources’ relate to our evolutionary past, and physical lives * The many ways physical movement affects the functioning of the mind and our emotions * A deeper look into the physiology of emotional responses, such as ‘fight, flight, freeze’ and their impact on health * Greater knowledge of the fundamentals of how we can find calm – and the very many ways these can be used to help people * New information from the latest mind/body research that has implications for therapeutic lifestyle changes ALSO COVERED: * What is ‘health’? And how do we get it? * Key practices to support your own health, as well as your clients’ * How to avoid the unhelpful psychology and aversive ‘pattern match’ that many of us have when it comes to ‘exercise’ * Whether we can really be addicted to exercise and if so why? * A deeper understanding about the role of “Green Space” in mental health * Increased knowledge of the ways in which physical changes in the body contribute to emotional distress * The many ways in which movement and physical activity are connected with mental health * How thinking and moving, memory and place are inextricably linked * Why stress becomes chronic (long-lasting) * Greater clarity about the role some emotions play in creating physical ill health – and the powerful ways in which other emotional states promote health (including the key role of oxytocin) * The science of the relaxation and oxytocin responses, and how these relate to many types of addiction, including smoking * Organising ideas to understand how 6 different types of relaxation practice relate to each other * A practical exploration of the many ways the relaxation response can be activated through breath and attention – including a new technique for dealing with panic * Why some people may have come to believe that ‘the breathing’ can’t or won’t help them * Summaries of the role of diet and sleep on our health – along with the factors considered today in ‘Therapeutic Lifestyle Change’ * Time to ask our expert tutor questions and benefit from group discussions -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Course Programme The ‘The Mind-Body Connection in depth: Movement, Emotion and Calm’ course starts at 9.30am and runs until 4.00pm. * From 8.30am Registration (Tea and coffee served until 9.25am) * 9.30am What is health and how do we 'get it'? * 10.45am Discussion over tea/coffee * 11.15am The physiology of fear and calm * 12.45pm Lunch (included) * 1.30pm The physiology of rapport (and other topics) * 2.45pm Discussion over tea/coffee * 3.00pm Physical domains of mental health * 4.00pm Day ends -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WHO IS THIS COURSE SUITABLE FOR? * This course is open to anyone interested in mental and/or physical health * If you enjoyed the original 1-day Mind-Body Connection course and would like time to explore in more detail the themes covered in the first half of that course, this new course is for you * Please note:  you don’t need to have attended the previous Mind-Body Connection course to come on this one, or its sister course ‘Food, Mood and Sleep’. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- https://directory.cpdstandards.com/providers/human-givens-college/ This course has been independently accredited by the internationally recognised CPD Standards Office [https://directory.cpdstandards.com/providers/human-givens-college/] for 6 hours of CPD training. Mini-Retreats at Leasowes Farm

By Contemplative at Home

Life is hectic. Finding time out feels almost impossible. We want to pray, we want to reflect, but when we do find a snatched moment to ourselves, we remain distracted. I've designed this space to help you reconnect with your breath, to gently stretch your body, and to listen... to the voice of your inner wisdom, and to the voice of your Beloved.  We will meditate with Christian scripture, we will journal, we will use creative means to listen to the Spirit. We will share silence, we will move our bodies, we will sit with Love. A little time out, to check in. I hope you will come away feeling centred, refreshed and assured of your belovedness. Two hours at Leasowes Farm in Warwickshire, UK in a small group setting (max 8). Each month a new theme will be explored. Different dates in the same month will cover the same material. See the 'Virtual Mini Retreats' page for a Zoom-based version of the same retreat. "Come away with me to a quiet place" Mark 6:31 What Past Participants are Saying  "Lovely refreshing space to think, move and journal. Thank you." - Seringa "So grateful for 2 hours of guided calm led by Lissy. The barn at Leasowes farm provides the perfect place to relax and become still. Lissy ensured that we all felt comfortable with a gentle structure to the morning. Thank you." - Pam "Thank you so much for this wonderful session Lissy, which reminded me that my soul is such a multi-faceted place deep inside of me that is always being nourished with love." - Nikki Mini-Retreats are hosted by Lissy Clarke, spiritual director, yoga and meditation teacher best known for the weekly audio meditations at Contemplative at Home. Lissy and her family live at Leasowes Farm, a late 17th century farmhouse nestled in the Warwickshire countryside where they have developed the outbuildings to be used as a place for rest and retreat. We look forward to welcoming you here.
