Description

Let your bodies move & your imagination soar as we explore this amazing planet through yoga & dance. Play, breath, & laugh together!

Join us for a fun-filled afternoon of family yoga, mindfulness, and Indian dance at the Bournville Quaker Meeting House! Let your bodies move and your imagination soar as we set off on an amazing journey together, travelling across this beautiful blue planet (and sometimes beyond!), and discovering all the incredible things we see along the way. This is a magical time where you can dance and play alongside your loved ones, and create unforgettable family memories.

This month we are going on an adventure under the sea! Join us as we dive beneath the waves, discovering all the wonderful creatures that call the ocean their home, and meet the mythical merpeople... We will also be learning about what we can do at home to protect and look after our oceans, and our planet.

As well as exploring storytelling through yoga and dance, in this workshop you will learn family friendly partner-yoga poses for you to try together, explore yoga and dance based games where you can release your inner child too, get creative with movement, and even try some yoga poses with the whole group in a beautiful human mandala!

The activities in the workshop are predominantly aimed at primary school children aged 4-11, but ALL ages and abilities are welcome to come along and join in the family fun. From TOTAL beginners to those already with experience, this is something for the WHOLE family to enjoy together. We want to include everyone, so there will be lots of modifications to suit every body. There's no age limit to experience the magic of yoga and dance, so grab your friends and family, tell your aunts and uncles, and don't forget to bring grandma!

Both Katie and Roo have a depth of experience teaching and working with all ages, abilities, and backgrounds - including chair based dance and yoga - so there will something suit every body. If you do have access requirements, including if any members of your family are in a wheelchair, please let us know in advance as we’d love to make you feel as welcome as possible. Seating is available if you would prefer to spectate for some of the more physical games, although we will always encourage you to join in as much as possible for maximum fun! It's natural to feel nervous in a larger group setting, but if you or a member of your family particularly struggles in this sort of arrangement (but you'd still like to come along and try) please let us know so that we can support you. Alternatively, Roo does offer private family yoga sessions in a quieter, more intimate setting, if that is something that interests you.

Snacks and drinks will be provided half way through the workshop, consisting of fruit, biscuits and squash, as well as hot drinks for adults - all vegan, and nut free, with gluten free options available. There will also be a "Calm Corner" set up with colouring and a few other sensory/mindfulness activities for you and your child if either of you need a little space from all the excitement.

So grab your loved ones and get ready to have a blast! Don't miss out on this amazing opportunity to connect with your family through the power of movement, mindfulness and laughter. Limited spaces, book early to avoid disappointment.

Free parking (limited availability) and toilet facilities available at the Meeting House. All equipment is provided, although if you do have a yoga mat, please bring it along for some extra comfort. Please wear clothes you feel comfortable moving in. Barefoot is best, but if you would rather wear shoes just make sure they are soft soled/gym pump style so as not to squish any small toes!
