Sound Bath by Candlelight

In the modern world we do not take enough time to relax. We are woken up abruptly by our alarms, we leave no time to daydream, and when we feel those natural lulls in the day, mid-morning and mid-afternoon, we power through with chocolate or a coffee. Being in a relaxed state, and specifically a Theta brainwave state, is vital for human beings for a number of reasons. In this state our cells repair, our nervous system restores, we recover from stress and process grief. As our current lifestyles allow us very little time in this state, our cell regeneration can go awry and our stress and grief can go unchecked. This Sound Bath has been designed to encourage you to achieve a deep relaxed Theta state for the majority of the session, the result of which can be incredibly calming and nourishing for your whole system. So bring a Yoga or exercise mat to lie on, a blanket, your cosiest socks and book now as there are limited spots available! Event Schedule 18:45 Doors open Ceremonial Cacao and herbal tea is served  19:00 Sound Bath introduction 19:15 Sound Bath commences 20:00 Sound Bath concludes 20:15 All guests to depart *Please arrive no later than 19:00    Contraindiactions Whilst both Ceremonial Cacao and Sound Therapy are safe on the whole, like many therapeutic treatments and medicines, there are a few contraindications to be aware of. With this in mind please read the below and if booking for more than one person please forward this email on so everyone is aware and in turn looked after.     Ceremonial Cacao Contraindications Between 6.45pm and 7pm there will be optional Ceremonial Cacao served, which can enhance your experience of the Sound Bath. If choosing to drink some of the cacao provided as part of your ticket, please make sure you are well hydrated before coming to the session, as cacao can be dehydrating (a little like tea and coffee). If you are on MAOI based antidepressants, cacao naturally contains tyramine, which is contraindicative of your medication. Cacao is not suitable for anyone with serious heart conditions, low blood pressure, or anyone on blood thinning or blood pressure lowering medication, as it is a vasodilator. It is also not suitable for anyone pregnant or breastfeeding. The cacao served during ceremonies is 20g per serving (based on one cup per person). The recommended daily dosage should not exceed 50g. The cacao will be made with 100% pure cacao, water and coconut milk. If you have any contraindications or allergies there will also be a variety of herbal teas available for your perusal.    Sound Therapy Contraindications The only absolute contraindication for Sound Therapy is if you are in the first trimester of pregnancy. Although there is no evidence that sound therapy would do any harm to an unborn child this is a standard requirement for insurance purposes across most holistic practices.   If you suffer with Epilepsy or seizures please let the host know in advance of the event. It is unlikely the sound frequencies used would trigger a seizure but by letting the host know we can ensure your needs are met. The Sound Bath itself is designed to encourage you into a deep state of relaxation that can produce imagery. With this in mind if you suffer with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety the Sound Bath could be triggering. If this is a concern please contact the host directly and we are happy to chat this through with you. It is very rare, but occasionally sound frequencies set unsympathetic resonance with metal implants in the body. There is no problem with this, but if you do have metal plates in your body please let the host know upon arrival so we can check in advance if your implant causes any pain or discomfort. If you require lifesaving medication please let the host know upon arrival so we can ensure your needs are met also.    Inclusivity Policy This event is for anyone 16 years+ unfortunately children under 16 are not permitted. This session is warmly open to all, irrespective of gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, ethnicity, culture or religious beliefs. If you are planning to get to us by public transport, we can help you lift share with another adventurer!  Your hosts will give you the camp tour and you then have the evening to settle in and become accustomed to Camp Living! After a quick introduction to the camp, you’ll want to settle into your shared Bell tent (air bed, sheets & a light blanket provided) before the evening activities begin. Complete with a hand-built games area, Axe throwing zone and sheltered communicable Fire Pit, you’ll spend your time getting to know everyone, and designating the camp chef for the following evening!  SATURDAY MORNING Your first morning starts with a coffee and a camp breakfast of cereals and fruits as you prepare for your first day of activities. If you have personal dietary requirements or feel you’d need something more substantial please ensure you bring this with you. Your hosts are with you for the whole weekend, so if you have any questions about the itinerary they are only a shout away!  You’ll head back to our HQ in Newquay to get ‘wet’suited and booted for your first surf lesson. As we are in the centre of town we have the choice of either Towab or Fistral Beach. Your location is chosen depending on the best conditions for the day.  Whether you are experienced or it’s your first time, our surf coaches are on hand to offer advice and guide you throughout your surfing lesson.  LUNCH You’ll have plenty of time between activities to grab some lunch, take a stroll around Newquay’s many surf shops or head back to our base and hang out in the garden. Newquay has a great vibe during the summer with plenty to look at, just ask us for some recommendations on where to go and what to see. SATURDAY AFTERNOON After lunch, you’ll head back up to our camp for your first yoga session either in our hand-built yoga barn if the weather isn’t on our side or by the side of our acre pond soaking up the sun! Your yoga session is tailored to ease those post-surf aches and spins away and guide you into a relaxed and zen state enabling you to slide into camp living effortlessly! SATURDAY NIGHT Once the day’s activities are finished the rest of the afternoon is yours to relax with a book, explore the camp, or even have a little dip in our pond! You’ll finish the night off with stories around the campfire, roasting marshmallows or one or two of your favourite drinks before sleeping soundly under the stars. SUNDAY - Day 3 Sunday morning starts with the obligatory tea or coffee and our camp breakfast. After breakfast, it’s time to wave goodbye to the wild camp and head back to Newquay, jump into a wetsuit and hit the Cornish waves one last time. Your second surf lesson builds on the previous day's experience – Today is all about having fun in the surf! After a general overview of surf conditions, and recapping the fundamentals it’s straight into the ocean to get the most out of your time in the sea – your coaches will as always be on hand giving personal feedback and goals to aim for in your surfing. By 1pm we are typically all surfed out, with your appetite for adventure satisfied it’s time to say fond farewells…

Hi I’m David AKA Yoga Dave, a yoga teacher in Stockport, Greater Manchester, UK. I’ve been practicing yoga and meditation for over 20 years and teaching for the past decade. When I first started doing yoga I had tight hamstrings, lower back issues and I was stressed, looking for a way to relax. Yoga and meditation really helped me in all these areas. And it opened my mind to other weird and wonderful practices like Shamanic Healing for Power and Soul Retrieval. Thinking about trying yoga and meditation for the first time? The first thing that people tell me when they come to their first class or one-to-one session is that they are the least flexible person ever and / or they are stressed out. After the first session they tell me how relaxed and energised they feel and how well they slept that night. Over time, flexibility and strength improves and they feel more relaxed generally. People also say that the sessions are fun because although I do serious yoga, we don’t have to be precious about it. Here’s my epiphany after reading loads of yoga philosophy, religious text and self-help books looking for answers: the main thing is to live a relaxed life. Yoga offers a tool bag full of ways to help keep the mind and body relaxed. Stresses will come – that’s life – but you’ll find that you will be able to cope with them much more effectively.
