Suitable for beginners and those with more experience, in this workshop you will design and create your very own bespoke, slate garden mosaic with Jacky from Mossy Mosaic.Mosaic making fits in perfectly with our vision of a world where recycling, repurposing and upcycling is the norm. Old slate can form the perfect base for a garden mosaic, hanging from the shed or balancing on a border. Bring new colour and interest into your garden with your very own bespoke design using vitreous glass, old china and sea washed glass!In this workshop you will use a reclaimed slate base to make a gorgeous mandala mosaic. You will be shown how to cut china and vitreous glass and you can also include sea washed glass and glass nuggets as part of your design. We will embed the tiles into an adhesive mortar mixture (an alternative method to gluing &amp; grouting). Join me for a foraging walk, searching for wild greens, botanicals and edible fungi. In the spring we will be sure to find the beautiful few flowered leek, wild garlic, explore the carrot family &amp; could even find some monstrous Japanese knotweed. Summer walks will examine the carrot family in flower, as well as medicinals such as yarrow and plantain. In the autumn we will also discover fungi such as oysters, dryads saddle and giant polypore.&nbsp;Ambling through the trees and alongside the Almond we will explore how to make wild food a staple and the benefits of doing so - from the nutritional to the cultural and philosophical. Throughout the morning gather the basic skills required to identify common edibles as well as how to avoid poisonous &amp; inedible lookalikes.&nbsp;The walk should last ~3 hours with the opportunity to stay a little later to ask chat and ask questions. We will meet outside the visitor center, where icecream and snacks are available. Suitable for all ages with children welcome - individual or family tickets. As we will finish by the playpark, this is the ideal loction for keen young foragers. Accessible via public transport.

On this one-day Introduction to silver clay jewellery making workshop - suitable for beginners or those that have attended our silver jewellery taster workshop and wish to develop their skills - you will create three different pieces of jewellery. &nbsp; Using silver clay, a material made up of recycled silver particles, an organic binder and water that can easily be used at home with little need for equipment, your expert tutor, Edinburgh-based jeweller Anna Campbell, will take you through all the steps needed to create your own pieces ready for firing. The dried clay is fired with a butane torch to form it into silver (at home a cr&egrave;me brul&eacute; torch will also do the job). The resulting pieces are silver of hallmark quality - modern-day alchemy! The projects you will make during this one-day workshop include a pair of earrings, a stone-set pendant and a moulded charm. You will learn how to make your own silicone mould to use with silver clay so if you have any small charms, shells, buttons and so on you would like to bring along to mould please do! If not, a selection will be provided for you to choose from.&nbsp; You will learn how to design, make and fire your own pieces and will go home with your lovely, truly hand made and unique creations to give as gifts or to keep for yourself!

In this intermediate level screen printing workshop with artist and printmaker Lou Davis, you will learn to coat, expose, print and clean silk screens using the photo emulsion method.You&rsquo;ll create a design for screen printing,&nbsp;transfer your design to a screen and print it onto printmaking paper. We&rsquo;ll cover&nbsp;how to register your prints so they print in the same place every time. For this full day workshop, we&rsquo;ll create multi-coloured prints with two or more layers. You&rsquo;ll make an edition of up to ten prints and choose your favourite to frame, ready for your wall or to give as a gift.It&rsquo;s a good idea to think about what you&rsquo;d like to print before the workshop. Please bring some ideas for artwork with you, which we&rsquo;ll draw by hand onto tracing paper during the first part of the workshop. We will have inspiration on hand if you&rsquo;re stuck!It is possible to print from digital images but these must be prepared before the workshop, so if you&rsquo;d like to take up this option, please contact us at least 7 days beforehand so we can properly advise you on what will print well. We will then print your ready prepared images onto screen printing acetate ready for the workshop. Jenny owns and manages The Scottish Soapworks. She offers a range of hands-on soap and skincare making business courses which usually last from one to three days.
The length of course you need will depend on how many products you want to make, and the level of support you need with developing and marketing&nbsp;your&nbsp;brand.
On the one-day course you will cover up to two soap or skincare making methods in detail including: ingredients; suppliers; equipment; safety issues; recipes and essential oils. On the two and three-day courses you can cover more products including: traditional&nbsp;cold process soap; organic glycerine &#39;melt and pour&#39; soap; shampoo bars; liquid soap; and, other skincare products such as hand and body cream, or lip balms.

Lou uses watercolour to create simple and approachable patterns that allow you to get acquainted with this medium in a way that helps you focus, shut out the outside world and simply create.&nbsp;In this workshop, we&rsquo;ll paint three watercolour projects, learning to use the paints to create a number of effects, we&rsquo;ll learn how to mix and blend colours on the palette or on the page, and we&rsquo;ll embellish our paintings with details in pen and with gold watercolour.This workshop is perfect if you&rsquo;re new to watercolour and offers a really beautiful way to explore the medium, it&rsquo;s also good if you&rsquo;re experienced in watercolour and are interested in using your painting and drawing time to relax and de-stress.

On this Introduction to lino printing onto fabric workshop, local artist Suzanne Kemplay will help you explore ways of creating simple images and striking patterns from which you will print your own, unique tote bag or tea towel.
This is a hands-on, practical and fun workshop where you will learn how to create an original design, cut your design onto lino, add ink, and print onto fabric. You will gain the confidence you need to create beautiful prints at home without the need for expensive equipment. You can bring your own fabric, or plain t-shirt to the workshop if you wish.
The price includes access to all the equipment and materials you will need.

Based on feedback from those attending our beginners silver clay jewellery classes, tutor Anna Campbell has designed this bespoke&nbsp;intermediate level, full-day workshop to cover what people wanted to learn next: how to make silver clay boxes and beads.
On this intermediate level&nbsp;boxes and beads class you will make three pieces:
<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">
<li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">a shadow box pendant;</li>
<li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">a Pandora-style silver wrapped bead; and</li>
<li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">a silver lentil bead</li>
</ul>
We will cover creating box pendants with flat or rounded sides, using moulds to make decorations, designing the front and back of a piece, making bails, as well as different types of unique silver beads.&nbsp;
You will torch fire all your pieces so they are completed, and ready to take home by the end of the workshop.
The class size is&nbsp;kept small to ensure you have plenty of supervised practice, and Anna&nbsp;will also share lots of hints and tips. By the end of the day, you should have the confidence and skill to start making silver boxes and beads from home.
This full-day intermediate workshop is suitable for anyone who has attended a&nbsp;beginner&rsquo;s silver clay taster&nbsp;or Introduction to silver clay jewellery making workshop, or who has previous experience of working with metal clay.
The introductory price&nbsp;of this workshop&nbsp;includes access to all the equipment you will need, plus&nbsp;all the materials necessary&nbsp;to complete the projects, including 15g of silver clay and a fireable gemstone&nbsp;worth over &pound;30.&nbsp;
You will also be sent full class notes with all the information you need to make pieces at home, including&nbsp;details of where to buy&nbsp;tools and materials.

Sketchbooks are for more than just sketching! In this series of workshops, we&rsquo;ll explore ways of using a sketchbook to experiment, research, and develop your own creative ideas, leading you towards developing your own unique body of work. Incorporating drawing, painting, collage, writing, and crafting, this workshop will get you trying new things in a small, welcoming group all summer long.During the live Zoom sessions, we&#39;ll try out specific ways of using your sketchbook to develop creative ideas. You&#39;ll also have a chance to share what you&#39;ve been working on, and be inspired by the work of others (sharing is encouraged but always completely optional). In between live sessions, we&rsquo;ll fill our sketchbooks up with writing and images prompted by a series of creative assignments which will have us out exploring the natural and built environment (although many of them can also be completed from the comfort of home).Each participant will be encouraged to deepen their explorations in whatever direction interests them most - be it a series of written reflections, sketches, collages, photographs, mixed-media pieces, or a unique, personal combination of all these.This small-group course includes six live sessions (via Zoom) with Julie, and &lsquo;homework assignments&rsquo; for participants to complete in between live sessions.
