Description

Based on feedback from those attending our beginners silver clay jewellery classes, tutor Anna Campbell has designed this bespoke intermediate level, full-day workshop to cover what people wanted to learn next: how to make silver clay boxes and beads.

On this intermediate level boxes and beads class you will make three pieces:

  • a shadow box pendant;
  • a Pandora-style silver wrapped bead; and
  • a silver lentil bead

We will cover creating box pendants with flat or rounded sides, using moulds to make decorations, designing the front and back of a piece, making bails, as well as different types of unique silver beads.

You will torch fire all your pieces so they are completed, and ready to take home by the end of the workshop.

The class size is kept small to ensure you have plenty of supervised practice, and Anna will also share lots of hints and tips. By the end of the day, you should have the confidence and skill to start making silver boxes and beads from home.

This full-day intermediate workshop is suitable for anyone who has attended a beginner’s silver clay taster or Introduction to silver clay jewellery making workshop, or who has previous experience of working with metal clay.

The introductory price of this workshop includes access to all the equipment you will need, plus all the materials necessary to complete the projects, including 15g of silver clay and a fireable gemstone worth over £30.

You will also be sent full class notes with all the information you need to make pieces at home, including details of where to buy tools and materials.

Note: If you use reading glasses please bring these with you as the class will include some close work.

Please note that The Arienas Collective workshop space is based on the first floor of a Georgian mews house and unfortunately we do not have lift access.

More information

The Arienas Collective workshops, courses and events are run from a supportive and welcoming home-based environment within a Georgian mews home in Edinburgh’s City Centre New Town. We invite you to join us, leave any day-to-day worries behind, and immerse yourself in being creative.

Spaces on our workshops and courses are limited so that our creative team of artists and makers can offer you the hands-on help and support you need to make the most of your time with us.

All the equipment and materials you will need are included in the price, unless stated otherwise, plus light refreshments (a selection of Shibui teas, coffee, hot chocolate, and sweet or savoury snacks). On full day workshops you are welcome to bring your own lunch to eat inside or out; or there are a wide range of independent sit-in or takeaway delis, cafés, and restaurants, plus supermarkets, within a 5-10 minute walk.

PLEASE NOTE: Our workshop space is on the first-floor of a Georgian mews building and unfortunately we do not have lift access. The workshop space is in our home which is not nut free. Please let us know of any skin or food allergies before booking.
