Our relaxed and welcoming venue at 70-72 Blackburn Road, Accrington BB5 1LE is the perfect place to get in touch with your artistic side. Choose a bisque to paint and spend an extended session indulging in your imagination, painting to your heart's content. While you are painting, tea and coffee will be available throughout the session to ensure that you remain refreshed and energized throughout. At 12noon, we will provide our Artisan lunch box to enjoy in between painting sessions. Feel free to arrive and leave at your leisure, and spend as much time as you want on your masterpiece. A £20.00 per painter deposit is required to reserve your space and cover the session fee (the cost of the paints, glaze and firing), plus your lunch with tea and coffee. An amazing art holiday with cultural visits, food tasting, drawing en plein air... and a complete course to discover the secrets of oil painting.
This 2-day course will introduce you to the magic (and basics) of hand applied silver gelatin. You will learn to use light sensitive liquid emulsion that can be applied to different surfaces and exposed to produce a photographic image. The many possibilities of the technique means it is used by painters, sculptors and print makers as well as those who like to have more control over their photographic images. Please bring along your own negatives (film or digital) to contact print from or get in touch with Stills when booking and we will produce a digital negative for you. Day 1 We will begin by making our own silver gelatin paper which we will expose and print in the darkroom to produce a handmade photograph. After going through the basics of the process we will explore printing on other materials such as wood, ceramic, shells etc. Some materials will be provided but please feel free to bring along any objects that you would like to try printing on to. Day 2 In this session we will move on to the Dry Plate process: darkroom printing onto glass We will continue printing on glass and also try creating glass plates to expose in camera. By the end of the course you will have produced: * Two prints on paper * Two prints on different porous material objects * One glass plate -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Courses are subject to minimum enrolment. This would normally include, but is not limited to, trade operatives such as demolition workers, construction workers, general maintenance staff, electricians, plumbers, gas fitters, painters and decorators, joiners, shop fitters, plasterers, roofers, heating and ventilation engineers, telecommunication engineers, computer installers, fire and burglar alarm installers, architects, building surveyors and other such professionals or any other persons likely to disturb and carry out work on asbestos containing materials as defined in CAR 2012.
