Land of Contrast, painting retreat in Cote d'Azur (France)

Description

Join us on this unique art vacation in Côte d'Azur's most characterful artists hamlet: St Paul de Vence. It is a fairytale village perched on a hilltop between Nice and Vence, surrounded by fragrant woodland and stunning views of the Mediterranean sea.

Its artistic fame dates back to the 1910s and 1920s, when painters like Matisse, Chagall, Picasso, Signac, Dufy  spent time in the area and turned it into an important cultural centre. In the second half of the twentieth century, Saint Paul continued to attract great art icons and some of the biggest names in 20th-century European sculpture, including Braque, Miró and Giacometti, came together to help create La Fondation Maeght, which has become France’s most important center of contemporary art.

We will be staying in a beautiful country house very close to this magical village where we will absorb all its vitality and we'll devote ourselves to painting and drawing in the best  possible conditions of light and space.
