Do you have a growing mountain of negatives and/or prints and wish to have them as digital files? This course will equip you with the skills to digitally archive your collection ready for reprinting and sharing online!It can be intimidating to approach alone, but this class will break the process down into an easy step-by-step tutorial &ndash; from scanning, to editing, and exporting. Having completed the course, participants will have a solid understanding of the required processes and can go on to take full control of their negatives and potential outputs. This workshop will take you through the scanning process &ndash; turning analogue negatives/prints into digital files &ndash; using two different scanners: an Epson flatbed and a Hasselblad virtual drum scanner. Providing an opportunity to look at how best to scan and restore prints as well as negatives, you will learn the benefits of both scanning systems and understand when and why to use them.Once images are scanned, you will then be shown how to take full advantage of all the information you have captured to really get the most out of the files. The course will guide you through the editing process using Adobe Photoshop to bring your photos up to the highest standard, utilizing colour correction, levels, adjustments as well as a walkthrough of the processes used to clean dust and scratches from your images.&nbsp;You will be shown how to export files for digital printing as well as for sharing online.All equipment and software will be provided for you, but in order to get the most out of the course&nbsp;you are encouraged to bring along a varied selection of negatives and/or prints to use during the course. It is estimated that you will have time to scan up to a dozen images during the day, so please do not bring along whole archives at this stage!Having completed the course you will be able to return to Stills to confidently use the scanning facilities here on a session or daily basis. A perfect follow-on course for those who have already completed an introductory darkroom printing course, or who have a reasonable level of B&amp;W darkroom printing experience. Please bring B&amp;W negatives (35mm or medium format) that relate to each other in some way (subject matter, tonal range, environment etc.) as we will be making a number of prints that can be read as a series.Please note: This course only covers the printing of images and participants should therefore bring previously processed negatives and if you have one, a printed contact sheet along to the session. Join me for a foraging walk, searching for wild greens, botanicals and edible fungi. In the spring we will be sure to find the beautiful few flowered leek, wild garlic, explore the carrot family &amp; could even find some monstrous Japanese knotweed. Summer walks will examine the carrot family in flower, as well as medicinals such as yarrow and plantain. In the autumn we will also discover fungi such as oysters, dryads saddle and giant polypore.&nbsp;Ambling through the trees and alongside the Almond we will explore how to make wild food a staple and the benefits of doing so - from the nutritional to the cultural and philosophical. Throughout the morning gather the basic skills required to identify common edibles as well as how to avoid poisonous &amp; inedible lookalikes.&nbsp;The walk should last ~3 hours with the opportunity to stay a little later to ask chat and ask questions. We will meet outside the visitor center, where icecream and snacks are available. Suitable for all ages with children welcome - individual or family tickets. As we will finish by the playpark, this is the ideal loction for keen young foragers. Accessible via public transport.

Tutor: Joseph WilsonDuring this 4-week course, we will use conventional black and white analogue materials in conjunction with non-conventional techniques to create images that stradle ordinary photographic representation and alternative vision. We will deviate from standard darkroom production through the practical exploration of a range of techniques such as Sabattier printing, bas relief printing, cameraless photography, and various methods for pushing and pulling film. These otherworldly techniques &ndash; many of which have been the basis for contemporary digital manipulation tools &ndash; offer abundant possibility for alternative photographic vision, where emphasis is placed on the transformative potential of darkroom work.This course would be the perfect follow up from our Intro to B&amp;W or Colour Darkroom courses.All materials including photographic film and paper will be provided during this course. However, participants are encouraged to bring along some of their own black and white negatives. Based on feedback from those attending our beginners silver clay jewellery classes, tutor Anna Campbell has designed this bespoke&nbsp;intermediate level, full-day workshop to cover what people wanted to learn next: how to make silver clay boxes and beads.
On this intermediate level&nbsp;boxes and beads class you will make three pieces:

We will cover creating box pendants with flat or rounded sides, using moulds to make decorations, designing the front and back of a piece, making bails, as well as different types of unique silver beads.&nbsp;
You will torch fire all your pieces so they are completed, and ready to take home by the end of the workshop.
The class size is&nbsp;kept small to ensure you have plenty of supervised practice, and Anna&nbsp;will also share lots of hints and tips. By the end of the day, you should have the confidence and skill to start making silver boxes and beads from home.
