<p>Ponds are scattered throughout our landscape. They are widely accessible in both rural and urban environments. As Spring arrives, these spaces become alive with the sounds of frogs, birds and insects.<strong> But did you know that some of the noisiest creatures live beneath the pond surface?</strong></p>
<p>Join me to learn about these aquatic soundscapes and tune into the sounds of amphibians, invertebrates, fish and even plants. Using an underwater microphone, called a hydrophone, you'll hear sounds that most people on the planet can't explain! Hopefully you'll find the experience as relaxing as it is fascinating.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Two-thirds of Britain&rsquo;s freshwater plants and animals are found near small ponds, including some of the most threatened. And since 1970, there has been an 84% collapse of freshwater species. By learning more about these sounds I hope we can adopt a new perspective of often overlooked habitats. <strong>You will have the chance to make your own audio recordings and become a citizen scientist for the day, </strong>contributing to potential ecoacoustic research.</p>
<p>The workshop will be delivered at Brasside Pond, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) just outside Durham City Centre. Portable audio recorders and hydrophones will be provided. Participants will need to bring their own earbuds/headphones. If you have your own recording device, you're welcome to bring it along!&nbsp;</p>

Crafting Clear Marketing Goals: A Strategic Approach

<p>Learn to carve wood starting with this nice little project of a Dala horse. The basic shape has been formed using a bandsaw so you will add detail and learn about carving following the grain of the wood.</p>
<p>You will learn safe wood carving techniques using the Mora 120 &amp; 106 wood carving knives, or other Mora knives more suitable for children. Some of these safe carving techniques are the same as those used for carving a range of other treen such as spoons. This is a less strenuous carving project than making a spoon so is also ideal for beginners. We will also cover sharpening knives as this is key to safe carving.</p>
<p>Other tools are also available to use and try out.</p>

Introduction to Mindful Photography with Rebecca, founder of Mindful Photography UK.

What is your refund policy?
We can accept cancellations up until 48 hours before we begin. We regret, as we are a small CIC, that we cannot take cancellations via email but ask that you log into Eventbrite to cancel your ticket should it be necessary.
Do I need any special equipment?
No, you need something to take a photograph on, a valid email address and a strong internet connection so that we can communicate over zoom. You would benefit from downloading an app called www.padlet.com to your device but this is not essential. The extension project is entirely optional.
What happens after the week long project is finished?
You will be invited into a community project or if you live in North Yorkshire you might like to book a 1:1 session with me. Personalised sessions start at £49:99 per person.
Do I have to be a photographer?
Absolutely not, we assume no prior experience of photography.
Is this like therapy?
We are not therapists but the process has a gentle and calming effect upon your wellbeing. We will be engaging in simple tasks to encourage mindfulness. We do ask that you are well and happy to engage in a small group session online. We embody respect in our work and we ask that you do the same.
Will you be using my images?
We never share your images unless you specifically ask for us to. Your image and copyright remains your own.
Can I share your lesson content?

These quick, effective techniques helped me rebuild my resilience, reclaim my sense of self and navigate challenges with renewed strength. The transformation was so profound that I knew I had to share it with others—and that’s how The SHARE Project was born.
What is The SHARE Project?
The SHARE Project is built on a simple principle: you need to put your own oxygen mask on first!  By nurturing yourself, you’re better equipped to support your children. Through our four-week, live online workshop series, delivered via Zoom, you’ll discover practical tools to bring more calm and happiness into your daily life.
Here’s what you can expect:
Weekly Workshops:  Each week, we’ll introduce and practice a new tool designed to fit seamlessly into your life (just a few minutes a day, I promise!). These are not your typical “luxury spa day” suggestions — because let’s face it, who has time for that?  Instead, you’ll learn sustainable, go-to strategies that you can use anytime, anywhere, to boost your wellbeing, even in the midst of chaos.  You will also receive a mid-week email of encouragement between workshops and printables to help record and track your progress.
Ongoing Support:  In each session, we’ll review your progress, fine-tune your approach, and introduce the next tool.  This isn’t just a one-off workshop; it’s a journey of growth and connection.
Community Connection: You’ll be part of a supportive group of fellow SEN parents and carers who understand the unique challenges you face.  Together, we’ll share experiences, uplift each other, and grow stronger.
