My Story My love of Yoga started over 10 years ago. The more I learned the more I wanted to share. So in 2017 I decided to train as a Hatha Yoga teacher with Jyoti Yoga in Fife. I hold a 200hr Yoga International qualification in Hatha Yoga. In 2021 I completed extensive training and received my 500hr Qualification-Transformational Yoga Master with Yoga Alliance International l am also qualified in Vinyasa Yoga and Chair Yoga I believe that Yoga is accessible for all and my classes are suitable for complete beginners and seasoned Yogis alike. Whatever your level I am there to support and nurture you through your Yoga journey and to achieve your own goals. I teach both Private & Corporate Group Classes, and have taught Additional Needs classes for the Local Authority. One to One Classes are also available where a program is specifically tailored to your individual needs, ability and goals.

Chris studied organ initially with Benjamin Saunders and subsequently at St Mary's Music School under the tutelage of Colin Tipple. He holds the L.T.C.L. with distinction in organ, and graduated in 2004 with his BMus (Hons) from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, where he studied organ with Jeffrey Makinson and Darius Battiwalla. Chris studied the piano - with Paul Janes and latterly with Jeremy Young - concurrently with the organ while he was at the RNCM. He loves the piano and particularly the music of Chopin and Schubert.

The Yoga Room offers blocks of classes, to encourage you to attend class on a regular basis. This commitment is essential when practicing yoga, to build strength and understanding of the practice. ‘Drop in’ classes do not provide the same consistency, limiting one’s progress and putting one more at risk of injury. Regular attendance also provides an opportunity for myself to get to know you and taylor the practice to meet your specific needs. *Note: If due to sickness or other circumstances classes are missed, you can make them up within a term

T'ai Chi is meditation in movement...and a whole lot more. When you see the Tai Chi hand form practiced it looks like a series of slow, graceful movements which are relaxing to watch and perform. T'ai Chi is more than this however. T'ai Chi has three main aspects - it is a physical exercise, a meditative experience and hidden within this, an art of self defence. T'ai Chi Ch'uan translates as 'Supreme Ultimate Fist' and over time we learn that to be relaxed is to be in control of our body, emotions and mental acuity.

Growing up, I always loved sport and physical exercise, I was up for any challenge, so when I had my first son I presumed I could get back to it right away. Unfortunately, at the time, despite all my physical activity, I had a lack of understanding about the way the body works and repairs itself. I tried to get back into all the activities I had done, and realised that I wasn’t able to do this without pain and discomfort. It just didn’t feel good. After the birth of my second son, I ended up needing a hernia operation. At that point my sister recommended Pilates - that is when everything changed for me. I understood why my body hurt. It was so simple: I wasn’t balanced. It was such a basic concept that I had never really been taught before in all my training. Very quickly, I was able to get back to the activities I loved with little or no pain! Inspired by this new knowledge, I started learning as much as I could. My passion grew the more I learned and I ended up training to become a Pilates Level 2 instructor on the Mat and the Reformer. I had to share what I had learnt with others. I enjoy working with everyone, from experienced practitioners to people trying Pilates for the first time. Recently I have worked with elite sports teams and, having been a high-level sportsperson myself in the past, I am realizing the true potential that there is to help people of all physical abilities make stronger connections with their bodies. The more we understand about our own bodies, the more we can work towards living the most active, healthy and pain free lives that we can.
