ABOUT THIS VIRTUAL INSTRUCTOR LED TRAINING (VILT) This 5 half-day Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) course covers carbon capture and geological storage of carbon dioxide. Burning fossil fuels for energy is a major source of carbon dioxide emissions to the atmosphere. Most anthropogenic (man-made) carbon dioxide is emitted by coal-fired or gas-fired power plants, and significant quantities of carbon dioxide are emitted through the production and separation of carbon dioxide-rich natural gas and industries such as cement, iron and steel. Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage, or CCUS, involves the long-term storage of captured carbon dioxide emissions in subsurface geologic formations. This VILT course covers all aspects of CCUS including transport, storage and monitoring, economics and community engagement. It explores in detail the challenges of the current technology of geological storage, monitoring and verification including examples from working projects around the world. Many of these technologies are commonly employed by the petroleum industry. Successful deployment of CCUS will also require economic incentives, appropriate regulation, clarity on liability issues and acceptance by the community. These aspects of CCUS, and the corresponding opportunities for appropriately skilled organisations and individuals also will be discussed. Course Content at a Glance 1. He has received numerous awards, including Distinguished Service, Honorary member and Special Commendation awards from the American Association of Petroleum Geologist (AAPG) and was AAPG's International Vice-President and recently chairman of AAPG's House of Delegates (the Associations Parliamentary body). He is an SPE Distinguished Lecturer (DL) and has served as DL for several other professional organisations, including, AAPG, IPA and PESA. He is currently a Professor of Petroleum Geology and Engineering at the Australian School of Petroleum, University of Adelaide. He holds the South Australia State Chair in Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) and is also presently Distinguished Scientist of the Cooperative Research Centre for Greenhouse Gas Technologies (CO2CRC), having served earlier as the Storage Program Manager and Chief Scientist. Your second expert course leader has a wide and deep knowledge of major capture technologies: solvent, membrane and adsorption based technologies and has developed pathways for retrofitting CO2 capture and storage (CCS) to fossil fuel-based power plants. He has been actively engaged in Post-combustion capture project management and demonstration projects in Victoria's Latrobe Valley on CO2 capture and hydrogen production, and on CO2 capture using membrane contactor technology. He has led various feasibility studies for the Asian Development Bank on CO2 Capture at Indian Oil Corporation's refineries, for JPOWER on hydrogen production from Victorian brown coal and for Kawasaki on incorporation of CCS in hydrogen production from fossil fuel. He has authored multiple peer reviewed journal articles, co-authored various confidential reports on CO2 capture, utilization and hydrogen production and utility, and has presented his work at various conferences, symposiums and seminars. Introduction to concepts, eustatic controls, seismic stratigraphy and definition of key terms. 2. Controls - eustatic and basinal controls, accommodation and equilibrium types, systems tracts and systems tract boundaries. 3. This 5 week in-house class is an introduction to plant-based photographic processes. It will cover anthotypes, chlorophyll printing, lumens, accelerants, chemilumins and make-your-own developers. Key differences between the in-person and online classes include: In-house: Each session will be 3 hours long and all materials will be provided for these classes. In this face-to-face course, students can work on different techniques in class, with additional work outside of this subject to the individual’s preferences. • Session 1: Introduction and Overview During this first session, we will begin by making exposures in-camera for future use with the DIY Developer. We will also cover the format of the course and provide an opportunity to answer questions participants may have prior to the hands-on sessions. It will offer the space for participants to get to know each other and feel confident in the approach and setup required without the pressure of jumping straight into the practical tasks. • Session 2: Anthotypes Anthotypes date back to the 19th century and a fantastic Scottish scientist Mary Somerville. An emulsion is made from fresh plant material, coated on paper, and then exposed using the sun. • Session 3: Chlorophyll Printing Chlorophyll printing is related to Anthotype printing, but instead of using plant juices to create an emulsion, an image is created directly on leaves using an object, stencil, or positive transparency. • Session 4: DIY Paper Developer These DIY developers can be made from things found in your kitchen and garden. Learning about the building blocks of photochemistry, we will create eco-friendly chemistry to process both our black and white contact prints/photograms at home. • Session 5: DIY Film Developer In this session we will build on our successes with DIY developers for paper and apply it to film (which is more sensitive and specific to chemistry). • Session 6: Lumens and Accelerants on film and paper  Lumens are camera-less prints made with materials in direct contact with photographic papers. Accelerated lumen prints are made by using organic, nontoxic chemistry directly onto film and paper with increased exposure times. These can then be fixed and printed from to create wildly coloured and unpredictable prints of great beauty. He built an investor-backed portfolio and a stellar team and in 2019 together with Dee started building a new model for commercialising science at scale with Wilbe.com. Dee spent five years commercialising artificial intelligence solutions for large enterprises across USA and Europe in product, sales and chief of staff roles. Her interest in frontier technologies began whilst working with Yale's Tech Transfer Office on spinout evaluations during her MBA.
