<p>Batteries are going to play an increasingly important role in the energy grid. An increasing number of developers are looking to add battery storage systems (BESS) into their existing projects. However future cash flows are highly uncertain and they are often unsure exactly how battery technology can be monetised. A strong revenue model requires stacking of different revenue sources.</p>
<p>As the share of variable renewable sources in electricity systems further increase, battery systems are expected to play a growing role by providing frequency control and operational reserves as well as for wholesale arbitrage, while helping reduce grid integration costs. The more volatile electricity prices are, the greater the earning potential of batteries trading electricity on various electricity markets.</p>
<p>BESS can generate revenue streams in several different ways; through a frequency response contract with the TSO, by providing grid services in other ways or by arbitrage through buying cheap power and selling power for a higher price in a liquid wholesale market.</p>
<p>Because batteries are efficient, the round trip efficiency is also high. They can spread arbitrage trading much better than other storage types and in many cases, other asset classes.</p>
<p>For companies that combine a battery with other tasks, for example to store power from their own panels, or to avoid a costly heavy power connection, the investment is less risky than for those that purely focus on arbitrage trading. It is uncertain whether electricity prices will fluctuate more violently in the coming years, or whether the peaks will actually level off.</p>

<p>He founded his consultancy and training business in 2002 to focus on maintenance and reliability improvement. Steve has over 25 years and extensive professional expertise in procurement fraud and corruption risk assessment, identification and analysis including the design of risk frameworks to combat the impact of revenue loss.
Steve is the Company Director of Global Risk Alliance Ltd and the author of Procurement fraud and Corruption: How to identify and mitigate procurement fraud and corruption risk. He was the technical working group lead for the design and creation of British Standard BS10501: Guide to implementing Procurement Fraud Controls.
In addition to his consultancy work, Steve provides global and virtual training programmes to clients in the field of anti-corruption, anti-money laundering and terrorist financial, countering procurement fraud and associated financial crime risks. <p>Your specialist course leader has more than 32 years of practical engineering experience with Ontario Power Generation (OPG), one of the largest electric utility in North America. He was previously involved in research on power generation equipment with Atomic Energy of Canada Limited at their Chalk River and Whiteshell Nuclear Research Laboratories. While working at OPG, he acted as a Training Manager, Engineering Supervisor, System Responsible Engineer and Design Engineer. During the period of time, he worked as a Field Engineer and Design Engineer, he was responsible for the operation, maintenance, diagnostics, and testing of gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, motors, transformers, inverters, valves, pumps, compressors, instrumentation and control systems. Further, his responsibilities included designing, engineering, diagnosing equipment problems and recommending solutions to repair deficiencies and improve system performance, supervising engineers, setting up preventive maintenance programs, writing Operating and Design Manuals, and commissioning new equipment. Later, he worked as the manager of a section dedicated to providing training for the staff at the power stations. The training provided by him covered in detail the various equipment and systems used in power stations. In addition, he has taught courses and seminars to more than four thousand working engineers and professionals around the world, specifically Europe and North America. He has been consistently ranked as 'Excellent' or 'Very Good' by the delegates who attended his seminars and lectures. He written 5 books for working engineers from which 3 have been published by McGraw-Hill, New York. Below is a list of the books authored by him;</p>

This 3 full-day course examines the operational, fiscal and legal aspects of the different types of Production Sharing Contracts (PSC) in use around the world.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">The Fiscal System of the PSC is analysed using discounted cash-flow model to illustrate the impact on investment criteria such as net present value, internal rate of return and pay-out from changes in factors such as cost recovery, profit sharing, royalty and income tax.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">In addition to the provisions within the four-corners of the PSC, the agreements related to the various stages of petroleum operations such as Bidding, Exploration, Development, Production and Decommissioning are examined. They include joint venture operations, drilling and well services and agreements for the sale of crude oil and natural gas. Discussions of these agreements will be illustrated with the use of detailed Checklists.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">The final session covers emerging issues that will impact the future of PSC operations such as International Dispute Resolution, transfer of Late Life Assets, Global Climate Change, and International and Bilateral Investment Treaties and Trade Sanctions.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); Value add and opportunistic property investments are complex both in their initial scope and their cash flow projections.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">This course will show delegates how to appraise projects in Excel, incorporate and communicate updates as they happen and ultimately understand how to convert an opportunistic property investment into a core asset that can be sold on.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">Residual models (profit &amp; site) are demonstrated first to illustrate the main components of any scheme and the traditional methods of evaluation such as profit on cost ratio, rental yield and interest cover. Development cash flows are then constructed in detail looking in particular at phased income as well as fixed, variable and incidental construction costs and their impact on the net cash flow. Additional performance metrics are calculated including geared IRR and return on equity.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">Development financing can be trickier than straightforward senior debt investment financing. This is because finance is often required in stages. The brought forward carried forward method demonstrated on the course, is the easiest way to deal with programmed debt drawdown functions and rolled-up interest.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">The assessment of project specific risk is arguably much more important in development schemes. Sensitivity analysis and scenario analysis are covered in the final section of the course.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;"><br fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;"></p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); Real Estate Development cash flows require greater skill and flexibility from Analysts, and an ability to work with simultaneously with project partners. Value add and opportunistic property investments are complex both in their initial scope and their cash flow projections.
This course will show delegates how to appraise projects in Excel, incorporate and communicate updates as they happen and ultimately understand how to convert an opportunistic property investment into a core asset that can be sold on.
Residual models (profit & site) are demonstrated first to illustrate the main components of any scheme and the traditional methods of evaluation such as profit on cost ratio, rental yield and interest cover. Development cash flows are then constructed in detail looking in particular at phased income as well as fixed, variable and incidental construction costs and their impact on the net cash flow. Additional performance metrics are calculated including geared IRR and return on equity.
Development financing can be trickier than straightforward senior debt investment financing. This is because finance is often required in stages. The brought forward carried forward method demonstrated on the course, is the easiest way to deal with programmed debt drawdown functions and rolled-up interest.
The assessment of project specific risk is arguably much more important in development schemes. Sensitivity analysis and scenario analysis are covered in the final section of the course.

Although Sophie initially aspired to be a talent agent, she swiftly realised that her career passions lay within the administrative/operational aspects of working life. 

Following her graduation in Entertainment Management from LIPA in 2008, she gained extensive work experience across renowned entities such as Sony BMG and Sky One, operating within the spheres of TV, music, radio, and the events industry. Her pivotal entry into a PA role came while supporting musician Eliza Doolittle.

After five years, Sophie opted to move home to Liverpool and accept a contract supporting Sir Dave Brailsford of Team Sky. Once complete, Sophie received an offer for a position based in the US with an A-list musician. However, her journey led her to discover her "forever role", providing support to Steven Bartlett.
Steven, the Founder and former Group CEO of Social Chain, is a multifaceted individual—a published author, podcaster, entrepreneur, and presently, the youngest-ever Dragon on BBC's Dragon's Den. Sophie has been instrumental as Steven's Executive Assistant, operating on a global scale, in both private and corporate realms for six years.

Kate is a business owner, qualified coach, consultant, facilitator, trainer, podcaster and public speaker with a background in learning & development, employee engagement strategy, continuous improvement, communications and marketing. After 25 years working across the board in blue-chip, non-profit and civil service organisations she now provides support to businesses looking to evolve and become great places for people to work in and with.
Having worked with a wide variety of clients from school-age students to senior executives, she has been designing and running workshops, seminars and classes in person or via web events since she left long commutes and corporate roles behind in 2014 when she created her first two businesses. Her passion is improving working relationships between roles and functions and supporting people to discover their best selves at work. She does this in the automotive industry, financial services, medical teams, charities, global media, retail, education systems and the arts.
When she’s not working, she and her classic car Monty Morgan can be found zipping around the English countryside.

On this course you will…
Implement cash flows in excel throughout the whole week.
In the first two days you will learn how to develop rent functions and net operating income. We will show you how to value and appraise property investments and analyse the results.
On the third and fourth day you will learn how to model and analyse development projects using both residuals and cash flow methods. It will show you how to interrogate and compare alternative return metrics such as profit-equity multiples, profit and cost, net present value, worth and internal rate of return. Additionally you will cover how to model cash flow from different sector office, retail and leisure.
Finally on the fifth day debt structures will be covered as well as joint ventures and partnership financing. You will also learn how to implement the full spectrum of the risk analysis from sensitivity to Monte Carlo.

Session Outline
Shelley and colleagues scooped the first ever Best Use of Data award at the 2023 UnAwards  for a campaign that delivered a tangible benefit for some of Buckinghamshire’s most vulnerable residents. 
The Helping Hand campaign supported Buckinghamshire residents to get the support and advice they needed from the council and local partners.
Using data to really understand the target audience, and drawing on specialist colleagues, Shelley achieved a 240% increase in alternative fuel applications, a 59% increase in applying for EBSS, and over 2,000 payments made.
Judges commented on the “hugely impressive and efficient campaign”, which made full use of internal and external data and in-house expertise. “What really impresses is the way she personally embraced the power of data to deliver real-world results in an efficient way.”
