From the moment you step into our vibrant dance studio, you'll be immersing yourself in an exciting journey of rhythm and movement. Our class covers a spectrum of urban dance techniques. We'll groove to the energetic beats of hip-hop, learn the power moves in breaking, and sway to the catchy tunes of K-pop. Our dedicated and experienced instructors will ensure that each dancer learns at their own pace in a safe and supportive environment. Richard Powers (US) is a full-time instructor in dance history and contemporary social dance forms at Stanford University Dance Division, Department of Theater and Performance Studies. His principal focus since 1975 has been social dance forms, from the Renaissance to today. Specializations include 19th century American and European social dance, dances of the Ragtime Era and Jazz Ages, and currently evolving vernacular dance forms. Saturday 31 August 2024 10.30am-1.30pm Ragtime Era Workshop including One Step & Animal Dances More bands these days who are incorporating Ragtime music into their repertoire so why not learn dances that go with the music! Learn to Lindy Hop 3-hour workshop with Simon Selmon Lindy Hop - the grand-daddy of all the Swing dances, combining 6 count, 8 count & Charleston variations, is an expressive, improvised dance form that is still enjoyed today, almost 100 years after it's inception! This workshop is aimed at Fast Beginners and those who have done some Lindy Hop classes before but want to understand the technique and connection behind the moves. Simon, who has been dancing the Lindy Hop since 1986 will be sharing his experience of this dance form. It's about letting the spirit of the dance move you, having fun and feeling more confident on the dance floor. No partner required and whilst no experience is necessary, the class will move at a faster pace than absolute beginners and is suitable for those with some experience.
We invite adults, children, complete beginners, and advanced pianists alike to join us at our studio on Baker Street for the finest and most comprehensive piano lessons London has to offer, thanks to a wonderful team of piano instructors. The focus will be for final term CFS students to pitch their graduation film ideas to collaborate with music students from Point Blank. Pitching students should think about what style of music they are looking for and the style that would compliment their overall vision. We hope to have a good turnout and welcome back our friends at Point Blank Music School. Please be sure to book in advance if you want to come along to this event.
