Always wanted to have a go at mosaic making? This might be the class for you! What to expect A brief introduction and demonstration on mosaic making using the Direct Method. Included will be how to use tile nippers, how to create shapes and an explanation of various andamento styles and how to grout. Please note that grouting will not be done in this class however you will receive a grout bag to take home with full instructions (including a video for reference). Who is this for? Suitable for beginners, however, those with some mosaic experience are also welcome to join. Mosaic workshop for beginners in County Durham, a full day of fun and creativity. All materials will be provided.

If you love abstract art and texture then this workshop is for you! You will learn how to mix and blend from a variety of materials from natural stone to plastic beads, stained glass to broken china. What to expect You will be shown how to prepare the base, mix your own adhesive and combine your materials using a range of techniques to create interest and texture. Who is this for? Suitable for beginners, however, those with some mosaic experience are also welcome to join. What is provided A mixture of beads, stone, mosaic tiles and slate (please note materials will vary from example shown) Black tile adhesive Stick for stirring adhesive A square or circular base approximately 15cm x 15cm Next class: Sunday, 17 November 2024 (10am til 3pm) Venue: Luton, Bedfordshire (exact location will be provided on booking)

This mosaic workshop for adult beginners is led by Lindsey, who has worked in 3 and 2D design, along with many years experience of teaching art, design and mosaics. During this one day workshop you will learn how to apply a range of tiles using the direct method onto an MDF or plywood base. There will be a large collection of tile material to choose from and you don’t need any previous design or craft experience. You will learn how to create a colourful mosaic design, use tile nippers safely and learn how to apply tiles to a backing board. There will be a choice of bases to work on. The aim is to explore this fascinating craft in a relaxed and friendly environment.
