HOW DANCING CAN IMPROVE YOUR MENTAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH Move your body to your favourite tunes – it’s the ultimate feel-good exercise and has some surprising effects on both the body and mind Music and dance have been fundamental parts of the human experience for thousands of years. No matter what your favourite tune may be, music can have a huge effect on your wellbeing – Charles Darwin even thought that our ability to make and understand rhythmic beats worked as an early form of communication. Whether or not we still share messages through music, we all know that it can change our mood and studies have shown [https://www.nature.com/articles/s41562-016-0007] that we share a natural sense of rhythm (no matter how much you might protest). Dance is therefore a natural outlet, and one which can do a lot to make us feel good. Club Azucar offers corporate dance packages for the workplace in order for your organisation (Companies, Institutions & Schools)  not only function at its best, but to be happy and healthy in life. These are the expected benefits for the individual employee which have been also confirmed by the participants: * Physical Health: Salsa/Zumba or any Latin Dance Classes improves mobility, coordination / motor skills and fitness level.while being a low-impact exercise which includes people of all ages, abilities and fitness levels * Mental Health: Dancing requires full concentration  so for one hour away from their desk ,participants will experience reduced stress levels, , feel refreshed and more alert and able to concentrate better following the lesson * Music in combination with physical exercise has an uplifting effect through the release of endorphins and dopamine in the body & brain * Learning a new skill is proven to train your brain, contribute to prevention of dementia and  give the confidence to face new tasks and challenges in other areas of work and life * The patience and encouragement of the teachers has furthered this new confidence and sense of achievement and contributed to participants’ belief in themselves and their ability to take themselves out of their “comfort zones” and take on new challenges * Getting to know each other in a social rather than work context and learning a new skill together, dancing and laughing together, gives participants a sense of belonging and furthers team building Do you want more proof? Performance Management

By Lapd Solutions Ltd

Our Performance Management (PM) workshop is based on Emotional Intelligence (EI), and it focuses on helping organisations to move away from traditional PM processes and work hard at reinventing them under a different name and a different approach aimed at supporting and collaborating to help both the Manager/Leader and the colleague. Historically PM sessions have been every six months or even annually, which, in our opinion, is no good. PM meetings are often treated with little importance and an almost tick-box attitude. This clearly does not help either party, so we focus very much on changing that. In our opinion, the PM meeting should be an opportunity where both parties discuss what is best for each other whilst being mindful of job descriptions and realistic expectations whilst considering various situations both at work and for the individual. We discuss the importance of 'facilitating' feedback instead of just giving it. We explore our 'Reasoning Questions' to show how they work, why they are critical and what benefits they bring. We discuss the usefulness of a Skills Matrix and various other tools to help both parties work towards the common goal of the best possible output but in the best conditions. We introduce our PM Cycle and discuss the benefits of that and how it works, along with 'Consequence Conversations' and their use. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LENGTH 1 Day NEXT WORKSHOP START Let's chat and confirm a date. COURSE DELIVERY Self-Paced Online, In Company -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SUITABILITY - WHO SHOULD ATTEND? WHO SHOULD ATTEND AND WHY? Who? - This is for any level of Manager or Leader (regardless of hierarchical position) and those expected to step into managerial or leadership roles in the next 12 to 18 months. Why? - Experience has taught us that if you want employees to give their best for the payment you give them, then you MUST work equally hard at supporting them in every conceivable way. Motivated employees will work willingly and go the extra mile for you if you do the same for them. 'Quid pro quo' is Latin for 'Something for something' The organisation, its Leaders and Managers and all the other colleagues MUST be a supportive and collaborative partnership. HR is there to support that and not there to do all the work to make it happen. And they are definitely not there to deal with team disputes and challenges initially. The best person to fix such things is often their line manager, with whom they have the best relationship. It is only when that is exhausted that HR should be involved officially. Make PM work for everyone. Help your people to perform to their best. And do it together. TRAINING COURSE CONTENT * We ask everyone to discuss what great EI-based PM looks and feels like for them and state why. * We introduce our thinking about the collaborative PM approach and why we believe this is the best way forward. * We discuss how often these events should be and why they should be mere summaries of monthly catch-ups. * We discuss using a Skills Matrix, how they work, why they are brilliant, and why they are worth the time to create them. * We introduce our 'Archway Approach'® and how that fits well with PM. * We discuss our 'Consequence Conversations' and why these must be introduced as early as possible. * We go through our 7 Stages of a PM meeting from preparation to follow-up and who needs to know. * We discuss our 'Employee Engagement Ladder', how it should be used and why it is critical to PM. * We watch a video of two well-known sports personalities discussing aspects of leadership. COURSE DELIVERY DETAILS When you consider the content we deliver, we are sure you will understand why we always prefer to deliver our workshops, courses and programmes face-to-face. Face-to-face workshops and courses can be held at a location of your choice or, if you wish, a central UK location, at the Macdonald Burlington Hotel in Birmingham, located directly across from the Birmingham New Street train station. We can deliver our workshops, courses and programmes online, although this will mean splitting elements into manageable learning events to suit the online environment.

GeeLearn’s Social Mission GeeLearn’s social mission is centered around the delivery of science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM), and in particular science education, to children in developing OECD countries. Leveraging our strengths as an innovator in online learning design, development, delivering, and funding, we volunteer our skills and energy and partner with organizations to deliver STEAM education to children in these developing nations, starting with Colombia. In 2020, after an intense 5-year review, Colombia was welcomed as the newest OECD member. In 2021, GeeLearn Ltd. Partnered with the Children’s University at the University of EAFIT (Universidad de Los Ninos de Universidad Escuela de Administración, Finanzas Instituto Tecnológico) in order to volunteer its skills, knowledge, and talents to expanding the reach of Children’s University via digital learning throughout not only Colombia but the whole of Latin America. Background of GeeLearn Ltd. and its Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative: Online Science Education for Children: Colombia to Latin America 2020 – 2023 GeeLearn Ltd. is a social enterprise headquartered in The Melting Pot, “Scotland’s Leading Centre for Innovation”. This volunteer effort for EAFIT Universidad de Los Ninos on behalf of GeeLearn Ltd. represents a social good and comprises a major part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative over a period of three years. The CSR initiative was approved by the company’s board of directors in the Autumn of 2020. The goal of the company was to engage with an educational initiative to help serve children in a developing country that is a member of the OECD. Colombia became an official member of the OECD in 2020, the 37thcountry to do so in the organization’s 60-year history. The directors of GeeLearn Ltd. have identified 6 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that its volunteer cooperation with EAFIT’s Universidad de Los Ninos touches upon and will help Colombia achieve. These include:

Giulia Drummond

giulia drummond

Edinburgh

Giulia Drummond is a singer-songwriter, percussionist, poet and actress creating mystical atmospheres with her hauntingly beautiful voice and musical talent.    Her musical background is filled with charmed sonorities from all over the world, from Afro-Brazilian chants to celtic music, visiting buddhist and hindu mantras, hebrew, sephardic, gypsy music. By exploring different music traditions, she also explores the languages, singing in Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, Italian (different Italian dialects), Gaelic, Latin, Hebrew, Haitian Criollo, Yoruba, Ladino, Romani, Swedish…   In constant research for as many influences she can find, Giulia refers to her practice as Magical Music. Her gigs are more like musical rituals, in which her deep voice, accompanied by a shruti box and different kinds of drums are the magical instruments, and songs take the audience to many enchanted landscapes.  Giulia’s first album balão de poemagia (meaning something like poemagic balloon) was released in 2018.   Celebrated as a musician in Brazil through her teaching, monthly concerts of new music and theatre performances, Giulia moved to Scotland in 2019 where she quickly became known on the Scottish music scene in Edinburgh.  She regularly performs, collaborates and curates music sessions at the infamous Captains Bar in Edinburgh and Leith Folk Club, collaborates with Flamenco Nova and is a company musician of dance theatre company Slanjayvah Danza - performing traditional Scottish, Gaelic and Spanish music and song in their award winning show, 6 Feet, 3 Shoes.   In 2020 Giulia released her second album, vôo dos balões entre as brumas (balloons flying in the mists).     Prior to Giulia’s artistic career she worked as a psychologist in the Museum of Images of the Unconscious, an artistic sector within a big psychiatric complex called Instituto Municipal Nise da Silveira. The museum is dedicated specifically to the use of artistic expression as treatment in mental health.
