ABOUT THIS TRAINING COURSE Well interventions have a large opportunity to enhance well production if correctly designed and implemented. Conversely, they can have a large negative impact on production if they're not. The Well Intervention & Productivity School (WIPS) is designed to help well intervention specialists, well service supervisors, and petroleum engineers become more aware of the problems that can arise in the planning and execution of well interventions. This 5 full-day course is designed to make those that attend aware of how their job can directly impact the productivity. Early identification of problems in wells and effective interventions to fix problems can have a significant impact by minimising lost oil through formation damage and non productive time. As well as discussing best practice, time will be made available for discussion relating to specific problems that may be affecting fields operated by members of the class. The course is a mixture of informal teaching and lectures. In addition, group exercises are used to reinforce the subjects covered during the lectures. This encourages cross discipline awareness, communication and motivates team building. The course has recently been updated in the areas of Subsea and HPHT interventions. This course can also be offered through Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) format. Experience before coming on the course has varied from no field experience and no experience of planning and programming well interventions through to many years working in well interventions. In order to be able to best adapt the course to the delegates expectations, you will be required to submit a pre-course questionnaire upon submission of your registration. Course Level * Intermediate Trainer Your expert course leader has over 40 years in the oil industry. During that time, he has worked exclusively in well intervention and completions. After a number of years working for intervention service companies (mostly slickline), he joined BP as an offshore well service supervisor. He was responsible for the day-to-day supervision of well intervention work on many of BP's North Sea platforms and subsea wells. This included coil tubing, e-line, slickline, stimulation and well test operations. An office-based role as a well operations engineer followed. He was responsible for planning, programming and organising of all the well intervention work on the Bruce and later the Magnus fields. In 1995, he moved into completion design. Since then, he has designed many platform and sub-sea completions, often travelling to the rig site to oversee the installation. In addition to his day-to-day work as a completion engineer, he regularly teaches completion and well intervention courses all over the world. He is also the author of the book, Well Control for Completions and Interventions, Gulf Publishing - April 2018. Advanced Well Engineering

ABOUT THIS TRAINING COURSE Well engineers who are responsible for technically evaluating and authorizing programs for drilling or working over wells must have the required skills and competencies to safely design wells of varying nature. They also need to be able to confirm that well delivery and intervention programs generate intrinsic well control assurance. Such work programs must establish, verify, monitor and maintain suitable and sufficient barriers for the entire well lifecycle - from spud to abandonment. Well engineers must also be able to select a suitable drilling or workover rig, capable of safely performing the work within its operational envelope. This 3 full-day course aims to further develop and assess the knowledge required to work on and eventually, authorize a well delivery program as deemed fit for purpose. It also addresses elements of well control that must be embedded into well design, well work programming and equipment selection. This course is intended for participants who already have a sound understanding of the principles of the design and/or delivery of wells and with more than 3 years of relevant industry experience. Training Objectives By the end of this course, participants will be able to: * Feel confident to design and plan drilling and workover activities while considering geological risks, formation pressures/strengths, and any integrity or well control concerns. * Monitor wells operations and ensure that they can and will remain within the accepted design envelope. * Assess risks and then apply mitigation or recovery methods in cases where design envelopes are threatened. Participants should be capable of assessing a drilling or workover program and then be able to answer the following key questions: 1. Does the program delivery have a sound design and work plan that allows the well(s) to be drilled or worked over safely? 2. Have we determined the appropriate kick tolerance for each open hole section and is it realistic for all drilling hazards that may be encountered? 3. Have all drilling hazards been suitably assessed, and the associated risk mitigated to a level as low as reasonably practicable? 4. Are there adequate, verifiable barriers in place throughout the operation and does everybody know their role and responsibility? 5. And, as applicable, is the selected rig capable of implementing the work program? Target Audience This course is intended for personnel directly or indirectly involved in the preparation, review or authorization of drilling and workover programs. This includes: * Well engineers and drilling supervisors who are responsible for planning and executing drilling and workover operations. * Contractor well engineers, rig managers and other senior drilling staff. * Senior well engineers and rig superintendents who are responsible for managing the delivery of a project or well. * Technical authority holders who are responsible for licensing drilling and workover operations from a regulatory perspective. Assessment: A satisfactory command of critical knowledge and skills is assured by a 1+ hour closed book assessment. This assessment has a mix of multiple-choice questions (MCQs), calculations and answers that must be written up. The exam is taken electronically. Participants are provided with a suitable formula sheet. The pass mark for issuing a certificate is 70% and participants who are not successful will be issued with a certificate of attendance instead. Trainer Your expert course leader has over 45 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry. During that time, he has worked exclusively in the well engineering domain. After being employed in 1974 by Shell, one of the major oil & gas producing operators, he worked as an apprentice on drilling rigs in the Netherlands. After a year, he was sent for his first international assignment to the Sultanate of Oman where he climbed up the career ladder from Assistant Driller, to Driller, to wellsite Petroleum Engineer and eventually on-site Drilling Supervisor, actively engaged in the drilling of development and exploration wells in almost every corner of this vast desert area. At that time, drilling techniques were fairly basic and safety was just a buzz word, but such a situation propels learning and the fruits of 'doing-the-basics' are still reaped today when standing in front of a class. After some seven years in the Middle East, a series of other international assignments followed in places like the United Kingdom, Indonesia, Turkey, Denmark, China, Malaysia, and Russia. Apart from on-site drilling supervisory jobs on various types of drilling rigs (such as helicopter rigs) and working environments (such as jungle and artic), he was also assigned to research, to projects and to the company's learning centre. In research, he was responsible for promoting directional drilling and surveying and advised on the first horizontal wells being drilled, in projects, he was responsible for a high pressure drilling campaign in Nigeria while in the learning centre, he looked after the development of new engineers joining the company after graduating from university. He was also involved in international well control certification and served as chairman for a period of three years. In the last years of his active career, he worked again in China as a staff development manager, a position he nurtured because he was able to pass on his knowledge to a vast number of new employees once again. After retiring in 2015, he has delivered well engineering related courses in Australia, Indonesia, Brunei, Malaysia, China, South Korea, Thailand, India, Dubai, Qatar, Kuwait, The Netherlands, and the United States. Hope’s Place opened its doors on October 17, 1998 in Ashland, Kentucky as a Children’s Advocacy Center. The Center grew out of a community child sexual abuse task force made up of child protective services, law enforcement, prosecution, mental health and medical communities who met regularly to define and refine professional roles in investigations and intervention in order to improve the system’s response to sexual abuse. Their efforts resulted in strong working relationships with clear investigative guidelines for an intervention system designed with the victim as its primary focus. Out of this task force a multi-disciplinary team was formed according to KRS 431.600 and 620.020 which mandates that all investigations of child sexual abuse be conducted by a specialized multi-disciplinary team. Kentucky has prioritized development of Children’s Advocacy Centers and was added to the multi-disciplinary team under KRS 431.600. Kentucky Association of Children’s Advocacy Centers (KACAC), a state association of Child Advocacy Centers was formed to provide regional centers with guidance and support. Hope’s Place is a full member in good standing in KACAC. In order to optimize services provided by Children’s Advocacy Centers and to maximize the spread of limited resources, a regionalized approach has been adopted for the funding and development of these agencies in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. This planful, deliberate approach undertaken by the Governor’s Office has allowed decisions regarding the funding of local programs to be undertaken on a statewide plan for funding. Hope’s Place is the designated regional advocacy center for the FIVCO district and provides a safe, client friendly environment to victims and their families for all aspects of sexual assault, including initial evidence collection, counseling, and court preparation. We also serve our neighboring communities in Ohio and West Virginia. In January 2003, a capital campaign began for the purchase and renovation of a larger facility. In April 2003, a building located at 1100 Greenup Avenue was purchased and administration relocated. At the present, Hope’s Place contracts with physicians and maintains 10 staff members including counselors, advocates, and forensic interviewers. Hope’s Place facilitates the coordination of services from multiple agencies for the common goal of victim treatment, victim advocacy, accurate evidence collection, public education, and prevention of sex crimes. Hope’s Place is a victim-focused Children’s Advocacy Center that provides a safe atmosphere for the victim, lessens trauma and promotes healing by maximizing services through a multi-disciplinary team approach. Hope’s Place actively seeks to reduce the occurrence of sexual abuse and heighten awareness through prevention education. Our Center provides a victim-friendly, home-like environment, which is designed to meet the sexual abuse victim’s need for warmth, support and protection. Hope’s Place is where all agencies come together to meet the needs of sexually abused children by coordinating services for the common goal of prevention, intervention and accountability. Child sexual abuse is one of the most pervasive social problems faced by this society. Its impact is profound because of the sheer frequency with which it occurs and because of the trauma brought to the lives of children who experienced this crime. Historically, however, the sexual abuse of children was dismissed as a “family problem.” The significant impact of childhood sexual abuse is unquestionable. This impact, however, speaks not only to the individual child victim of the crime, but also to the mental health community. There is no longer a question of whether child sexual abuse is a criminal justice problem or a social services problem or a mental health problem, for its power pervades the territory of each. The question must now lie in the resolve of all professionals to overcome skepticism with acknowledgment, disbelief with understanding, indifference with indigence, and reluctance to intervene with an unwavering intolerance of the victimization of all children.

WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT? Our approach is light touch with minimal intervention in the environment and prioritising nature. We are currently developing our site facilities and creating spaces for small groups and low impact events. These include bushcraft, forest school, wellbeing sessions, forest bathing, yoga, pilates, artist retreats etc. We’re already working with schools, charities, youth and arts groups. NATURE Our ethos is very much one of balance, so for us plants and animals are as important as people. We are currently working with fantastic environmental advisors to establish what plants and animals are currently residing on our site. Our aim is to protect the habitats that already exist, create a comprehensive management plan and increase biodiversity where possible. It's all about the science! In common with most of the British Isles the land here has been managed by humans for hundreds of years - a mixture of farming, park land and old tree plantations. It’s not wild in the true sense of an untouched natural ecosystem but it’s a special place that has been left pretty much to itself for several decades. One was through doing management consulting in the public and private sectors, and coming to understand just how much stress, inefficiency and sadness arises from communication and conflict difficulties in the workplace. The other route was through being a patient, a parent of children with disabilities and a family carer, and witnessing how difficult it can be to make plans for the future when the present involves difficult discussions and many people. It’s astonishing to witness people’s lives turn from a turmoil of distressing, intractable ‘stuckness’, to a new phase in which, for example, neighbours can conceive of greeting each other again; or work colleagues re-establish trust between each other after maybe years of mistrust, stress and non-communication. Mediation takes empathy, patience and persistence, and it is a skill I will develop and hone endlessly over years to come, but its core aspect is a belief that people really can find peace again, given the right support and a safe space to explore options for settling differences. Facilitating such processes is a real honour. Nothing beats the sight of former disputants smiling, shaking hands, or even (more often than you would think) hugging, at the end of a mediation.
