Before I began my training in Shiatsu, I trained for 20 years in a Chinese martial art called Southern Shaolin Five Ancestors. I trained at the London College of Shiatsu and successfully attained diploma as a Zen Shiatsu practitioner. As a professional practitioner, I am an insured member of the register of the Shiatsu Society (MRSS) and also registered with the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). These bodies guarantee professional standards of practise. My journey to the Bar has pushed me to be innovative in how to organise myself to manage my time and productivity. She founded Devoted to Rest + Starshine & Clay Online Yoga and Meditation Studio for Black Women and Women of Color. Within her rest and work she threads poetry, prayer, and time tested practices into a blanket of experience under which individuals can gather and rebuke stress, fatigue, and burnout. The foundation of Octavia’s rest work is Black Church (rooted in the South USA), restorative yoga, Yoga Nidra, and meditation. Her deepest offerings lead driven, ambitious, visionary, and highly impactful women to awaken the fullness of their wisdom, power, and clarity through rest. Octavia has over 20 years of experience and well over 10,000 hours of designing and delivering classes, restshops, workshops, immersions, and trainings that transform, heal, and restore individuals and organizations. In 2021 Yoga Journal magazine recognized Octavia as one of fifteen experienced yoga professionals who have elevated and changed the field on a global scale. Ruth Cooper-Dickson is an accredited trauma-informed thrivership and wellbeing coach, and a certified breathwork leader.  She is an experienced positive psychology practitioner specialising in post-traumatic growth.  Ruth integrates breathwork into her coaching, as well as running transformational breathwork classes. Ruth is focused on helping those who have experienced adverse life situations and difficulties to thrive.  Ruth has her own lived experience of trauma, burnout and mental-ill health diagnosis’ moving through her own recovery to healing journey.  Ruth’s journey prompted her to serve others offering individuals, a safe and sometimes challenging space to focus on what they need to unlock and grow to thrive. Ruth holds an MSc in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology, coupled with accreditation as an EMCC Coaching Practitioner.  Ruth is also a qualified Mental Health First Aid Instructor.  Her academic research sits within the coaching sphere and how it can facilitate the outcome of post-traumatic growth, a topic she speaks and writes about in the media.
