<p>Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is an upcoming new technology that has a vital place within global efforts to decarbonise. It has a unique set of challenges, opportunities and risks to be understood and accommodated within appropriate legal, regulatory, and social and public license frameworks. The course has a strong international and global south emphasis with case studies on CCS projects and will touch on the role of CCS in developing country energy transition. The course satisfies a part of the market that is not currently catered for - the wider science, risks, financing, regulation, planning and social license aspects of CCS. These are issues that are as important as the technical issues in the sense that any of them can be a show-stopper for CCS.</p>

He has 25 years' experience in geological, energy, and palaeontological science and research, including 8 years national level science leadership as the UK's chief geologist (Executive Chief Scientist and Director of Science and Technology of the British Geological Survey). During this full-day session we will travel across both the North and South banks of the River Forth to capture some amazing locations from characterful old jetties to the Forth Bridges; from the smallest port in Scotland to hidden bays. This is designed for people who know the basics of their camera and want to learn how to take stunning landscape and seascapes images whilst discovering the beautiful scenery around the Forth estuary.</p>
<p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">Attendees on the session will learn how to create stunning images in-camera through the use of filters and more advanced composition techniques. The full-day session commences from first light and will last until sunset so there are many opportunities to practice your skills. During the day we will also spend some time looking at how we can use editing software to enhance your images.</p>

<p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">This full-day intermediate workshop is suitable for anyone who has attended our beginners Silver clay taster or Introduction to silver clay jewellery workshops, or has experience of working with metal clay.</p>
<p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">On this workshop, taught by Edinburgh&nbsp;jeweller and silver clay specialist Anna Campbell, you will learn the traditional skill of soldering to advance your jewellery-making skills in order to make different types of jewellery including stud earrings and cufflinks.</p>
<p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">This is the perfect follow-on&nbsp;to&nbsp;the beginners workshops, and has been requested by our participants! It&rsquo;s also the right workshop for you if you want to make jewellery to sell, or simply wish to make unique pieces&nbsp;for yourself, or as gifts&nbsp;for friends.&nbsp;</p>
<p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">We will begin by&nbsp;designing and making&nbsp;stud earrings, cufflinks and a pendant out of silver clay. This part serves as a good recap on what you&rsquo;ve learnt previously.&nbsp;We will spend the majority of our time focussing on the skill of soldering. You will learn:</p>

This full-day intermediate workshop is suitable for anyone who has attended our beginners Silver clay taster or Introduction to silver clay jewellery workshops, or has experience of working with metal clay.
On this workshop, taught by Edinburgh jeweller and silver clay specialist Anna Campbell, you will learn the traditional skill of soldering to advance your jewellery-making skills in order to make different types of jewellery including stud earrings and cufflinks.
This is the perfect follow-on to the beginners workshops, and has been requested by our participants! It’s also the right workshop for you if you want to make jewellery to sell, or simply wish to make unique pieces for yourself, or as gifts for friends. 
We will begin by designing and making stud earrings, cufflinks and a pendant out of silver clay. This part serves as a good recap on what you’ve learnt previously. We will spend the majority of our time focussing on the skill of soldering. You will learn:
How to solder earring posts onto earrings to make studs
How to solder silver cufflink backs onto your silver clay pieces
How to solder a jump ring onto a pendant (instead of drilling a hole)
Loads of practical hints and tips
We will cover two different types of soldering, talk about the equipment and materials you need (not much more than for working with silver clay), troubleshooting and more. You will have plenty of supervised practice, and by the end of the day you should have the confidence and skills you need to start making soldered silver clay jewellery at home.

The Arienas Collective workshops, courses and events are run from a supportive and welcoming home-based environment within a Georgian mews home in Edinburgh’s City Centre New Town. We invite you to join us, leave any day-to-day worries behind, and immerse yourself in being creative.
Spaces on our workshops and courses are limited so that our creative team of artists and makers can offer you the hands-on help and support you need to make the most of your time with us. 
All the equipment and materials you will need are included in the price, unless stated otherwise, plus light refreshments (a selection of Shibui teas, coffee, hot chocolate, and sweet or savoury snacks). On full day workshops you are welcome to bring your own lunch to eat inside or out; or there are a wide range of independent sit-in or takeaway delis, cafés, and restaurants, plus supermarkets, within a 5-10 minute walk.
PLEASE NOTE: Our workshop space is on the first-floor of a Georgian mews building and unfortunately we do not have lift access. The workshop space is in our home which is not nut free. Please let us know of any skin or food allergies before booking.

Most of our workshops are also available to book for small private get-togethers; themed wedding and birthday celebrations; corporate team building and well-being purposes; and as in-store retail events. These substances are classified as toxic for reproduction. We will look at the ways in which colour revolutionized the artworld and vernacular photography. We will also look at basic colour theory, exploring which colours compliment each other and why. We will also refresh basic camera controls, load cameras and head out to the streets to shoot a roll of film.</p><p style="color: rgb(80, 80, 80); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;" fr-original-style=" color: rgb(80, 80, 80);">Afternoon: Colour Film Processing<br fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">During this session, you will learn how to hand process your colour film. We will discuss the loading of the tank and the preparation of the machine to ensure correct processing temperature. How do I attend?

EITHER -
CLASSROOM OPTION - Attend one of our scheduled classroom locations, completing your Introduction to Phlebotomy Course over 2 days. You will also complete your Advanced Training at the end of the first day and your Competency Training at the end of the second day.

Our Introduction to Phlebotomy and Advanced Phlebotomy Training Kits are supplied at no charge when booking our virtual classroom training option.
If you would like to add one or both of these kits to your classroom training option then these are available to add at time of booking. Our comprehensive training kits each mirror the same equipment and supplies used in the classroom and both include detailed video tutorials, allowing you to continue to practice and "hone" your skills after you have completed your practical training.

OR -

VIRTUAL CLASSROOM OPTION- Complete your theory training online at home or work, then join us for a one day Zoom session to complete your Introduction to Phlebotomy virtual classroom training, followed by your Advanced Training in the evening of the same day. You have the option to add a classroom-based competency session, awarding a CPD Accredited Geopace Certificate of Competency, at time of booking.

Our Virtual Classroom option includes two very comprehensive training kits - one for your introductory course and one for your advanced course. You will receive a voucher code to enable you to book onto any upcoming dates or locations. For most of our two day course we run our competency training at the end of the second day and therefore you should be able to complete your full training programme with us over two days.

M02 - Aspirated and Vacuated Systems:
Open systems (Syringe & Needle), closed systems (Vacutainer & Monovette), Alternative closed systems, Using Monovette - aspiration and evacuated techniques, monovette adapter systems.
M03 - Specialised and Advanced Phlebotomy Equipment:
The centrifuge - overview. Safe operation and use. Managing a centrifuge breakage or spillage.
Equipment and practices in unusual situations.
Patients with special needs and requiring specific attention.
Equipment preparation for blood samples that are collected at
0 degrees, 37 degrees C and other non-standard conditions.
A look at advances in technology and how to use the latest devices.
M04 - Point of Care Testing:
What is POC Testing? Advantages, Disadvantages and Clinical
Outcomes. Comparison of POC with lab testing. 10 common POC tests. Roles for phlebotomists performing POC Tests.
M05 - Neonates and Children:
Sample collection from new-born to pre-adult. A detailed overview of legal principles of law including child consent and child protection for phlebotomists. Neonatal and child blood collection equipment.
A comprehensive look at heel and finger-prick procedures including
microtainers, lancets and capillary tube collection. Detailed heel prick procedure. Paediatric finger prick collection. The life-threatening hazard of over-collecting. Communication techniques in differing age bands.

Drawing blood from back of hand. Drawing blood from lower limb veins. Managing the unwilling or difficult patient. Managing the psychiatric patient. Managing the isolated patient. M08 - Special Tests and Sample Handling Procedures:
A look at sample collection at specific times of day and night,
samples that are protected from light, collected on ice and
collected at body temperature. Procedures for each group - collection notes, analytic time, optimal collection time and notes for each group.
M09 - Advanced Phlebotomy Tasks:

2 - Syringe and Needle (open system): Correct use and applications.
3 - Monovette (open and closed systems):
Using the Monovette system in aspiration mode - correct use and applications.
Using the Monovette system in evacuated mode - correct use and applications.
4 - IR Vein Detector:
Demonstration of the IR vein detector for assisting in detection of difficult veins.
5 - Veins in back of hand:
Detecting suitable veins in the back of the hand.
6 - POC testing:
Point of Care Testing - use of glucose meter to demonstrate a typical POC test procedure. Correct use and overview of other POC test devices.
7 - Using lancets (finger collection)
We look at the correct use of lancets for POC testing and whole blood micro-collection.
8 - Using lancets (heel collection)
We look at the correct use of lancets for neonatal blood spot tests (Guthrie Test).
9 - Capillary collection
Using glass capillary tubes for micro-collection. Correct use and handling.
10 - Microtube collection
Correct use of BD Microtainers (and similar micro-collection bottles) - collection and handling.
