Learn how to make a functional and fabulous hand-bound book with local Bookbinder Cass Barron.In this 3 hour workshop, Cass will take you through the process of folding, cutting and stitching your own leather or pleather book using a range of upcycled and vintage materials to give your book its own unique character.All materials will be provided but there is also the option to incorporate your own decorative papers, including maps and personal mementos&nbsp;should you want to theme your book to suit your occasion.&nbsp;The books you will produce make for great notebooks, journals, sketchbooks and memory books, as well as lovely gifts for friends and family.Following the workshop you will receive a reminder of the steps covered and a comprehensive materials list should you want to make more books at home (it&#39;s a most addictive craft).Cass offers a wide range of workshops and book structures. Discover the magic of mosaic making&nbsp;with Jacky Cox of Mossy MosaicMosaicing fits in perfectly with our vision of a world where recycling, repurposing and upcycling is the norm. Jacky works with a variety of materials including glass, recycled crockery and natural materials like slate and sea glass, and finds the whole creative process from sourcing to creating absorbing, relaxing and mesmerising.&nbsp;On this 3 hour session, Jacky will help you create two mosaic items using methods you can do at home. You will begin by designing creating a grouted drinks coaster, and while this is drying, you will design a beautiful hanging heart using vitreous (&#39;swimming pool&#39;) tiles. Our Art &amp; Wine Evenings offer&nbsp;a fun,&nbsp;relaxed and creative night out in Edinburgh&#39;s fabulous&nbsp;city centre, and are perfect for those who want to reengage with their creative side, or just enjoy a bit of escapism.
With hands-on help from local painter <a href="https://www.thearienascollective.com/artists" rel="noopener" target="_blank" fr-original-style="" style="user-select: auto; font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box; cursor: pointer; text-decoration: inherit;">Suzanne Kemplay</a>, you will learn how to create your very own still life, portrait or landscape painting using acrylic paints, while enjoying a glass of wine served with cheese and crackers plus our usual selection of locally-blended Shibui teas, and coffee options.
You don&#39;t have to be able to draw, so it&#39;s perfect for beginners&nbsp;as well as those who are new to using acrylic paints. And we&nbsp;think you&#39;ll be amazed at what you can achieve in one evening!
Suzanne offers a range of themes throughout the year, and you will be given a choice of 2 options to paint on the night. She&#39;ll also provide a brief background to the artist&#39;s work, and support throughout the evening to help you make the most of your time.
No previous experience is needed. Images can be traced so the focus is on the painting and you can get straight to work, and have fun playing with paint. Suzanne will talk you through the process showing you how to mix colours, and how to apply acrylic paint to get the best results.

Taking as a starting point the work of contemporary photographic artists working with colour, we will discuss and explore theory as well as developing core skills essential for the capture and printing of your own colour images.You will learn how to correctly expose colour negative film and learn more about the characteristics of different types of film and the effects that they can have on an image. Within Stills&rsquo; darkrooms you will learn how to process your colour film by hand and print high quality analogue C-Type prints.Day 1 Morning: Colour Theory, Inspiration and Refresher for SLR Camera Controls During the morning we will be looking at contemporary photographers and artists that have used colour to inform their practice in specific ways. We will look at the ways in which colour revolutionized the artworld and vernacular photography. We will also look at basic colour theory, exploring which colours compliment each other and why. We will also refresh basic camera controls, load cameras and head out to the streets to shoot a roll of film.Afternoon: Colour Film Processing During this session, you will learn how to hand process your colour film. We will discuss the loading of the tank and the preparation of the machine to ensure correct processing temperature. We will look at different film types, why you may want to use them and the range of effects that can be produced.Day 2 Morning: Introducing the Colour Darkroom and Contact Sheets You will be introduced to Stills colour darkooms and become familiarised with the range of equipment you will be using. You will be taught how to set up your darkroom for printing, how the colour print processor works and how to print a contact sheet for viewing your negatives.Afternoon: Printing In the afternoon you will be expected to make a series of final C-Type prints. You will be shown techniques to improve your printing skills and produce the images you desire. This last session will allow you time to print with some one-to-one attention. We will discuss some printing techniques to help you get the most from your negatives. How do I attend?

EITHER -
CLASSROOM OPTION - Attend one of our scheduled classroom locations, completing your Introduction to Phlebotomy Course over 2 days. You will also complete your Advanced Training at the end of the first day and your Competency Training at the end of the second day.

Our Introduction to Phlebotomy and Advanced Phlebotomy Training Kits are supplied at no charge when booking our virtual classroom training option.
If you would like to add one or both of these kits to your classroom training option then these are available to add at time of booking. Our comprehensive training kits each mirror the same equipment and supplies used in the classroom and both include detailed video tutorials, allowing you to continue to practice and "hone" your skills after you have completed your practical training.

VIRTUAL CLASSROOM OPTION- Complete your theory training online at home or work, then join us for a one day Zoom session to complete your Introduction to Phlebotomy virtual classroom training, followed by your Advanced Training in the evening of the same day. You have the option to add a classroom-based competency session, awarding a CPD Accredited Geopace Certificate of Competency, at time of booking.

Our Virtual Classroom option includes two very comprehensive training kits - one for your introductory course and one for your advanced course. Kits are included at no charge (normally £79.95 each) and are yours to keep and to continue to practice with after you have finished your courses. The equipment and supplies included in your kits are the same as those used if you choose the classroom option.

Our Route to Competency Masterclass - Live Blood Sessions can only be completed in a classroom environment. This is included when you book a classroom option. When booking the virtual classroom option you can choose to add this at time of booking. You will receive a voucher code to enable you to book onto any upcoming dates or locations. For most of our two day course we run our competency training at the end of the second day and therefore you should be able to complete your full training programme with us over two days.

If you would like to add one or both of these kits to your classroom training option then these are available for you to add at time of booking. Training kits mirror the same equipment and supplies used in the classroom and both include detailed video instructions, allowing you to continue to practice and "hone" your skills after you have completed your practical training.

VIRTUAL CLASSROOM OPTION- Complete your theory training online at home or work, then join us for your one full day to complete your cannulation and injection course training.

Our Virtual Classroom option includes two very comprehensive training kits - one for your cannulation course and one for your injection course.
