Employing a mix of practical exercises and critical reflection, this introductory day course provides an overview of fundamental techniques for recording and editing voice, ambiences and sound effects for podcasts, video/film and art installations or just for fun. The course uses industry standard software and introduces a range of popular, high quality microphones and portable recording devices.The course has enough flexibility to be steered by the individual interests of the participants, but you will generally cover; the properties of sound, microphone selection and placement, gain structure, effective planning, noise limiting and reduction, sound editing, dynamics, sound processing and spatial effects.If desired, we can look at a variety of techniques for improving sound quality and recording audio from video conferencing, as we all find ourselves working and interacting in this manner every day. Based on feedback from those attending our beginners silver clay jewellery classes, tutor Anna Campbell has designed this bespoke&nbsp;intermediate level, full-day workshop to cover what people wanted to learn next: how to make silver clay boxes and beads.
On this intermediate level&nbsp;boxes and beads class you will make three pieces:
<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">
<li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">a shadow box pendant;</li>
<li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">a Pandora-style silver wrapped bead; and</li>
<li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">a silver lentil bead</li>
</ul>
We will cover creating box pendants with flat or rounded sides, using moulds to make decorations, designing the front and back of a piece, making bails, as well as different types of unique silver beads.&nbsp;
You will torch fire all your pieces so they are completed, and ready to take home by the end of the workshop.
The class size is&nbsp;kept small to ensure you have plenty of supervised practice, and Anna&nbsp;will also share lots of hints and tips. By the end of the day, you should have the confidence and skill to start making silver boxes and beads from home.
This full-day intermediate workshop is suitable for anyone who has attended a&nbsp;beginner&rsquo;s silver clay taster&nbsp;or Introduction to silver clay jewellery making workshop, or who has previous experience of working with metal clay.
The introductory price&nbsp;of this workshop&nbsp;includes access to all the equipment you will need, plus&nbsp;all the materials necessary&nbsp;to complete the projects, including 15g of silver clay and a fireable gemstone&nbsp;worth over &pound;30.&nbsp;

This is a hands-on, practical and fun workshop where you will learn how to create an original design, cut your design onto lino, add ink, and print onto fabric. In this one-day, beginners&#39; workshop with artist Panna Chauhan, you will study both the italic and foundational scripts, and learn how to use these in unique and abstract ways to create a framed calligraphy artwork ready to hang at home.The foundational and italic scripts are different in the way they are written, and because of the way the pen is held, and each has a unique look and style.Under Panna&#39;s watchful eye, you will spend the morning learning and practicing letter forms in the basic foundational hand (or script): learning about the different types of nibs; correct sizing of letters; and how to hold the pen with the right tension to achieve a fluid letter.After a break for lunch, you will study the italic hand in brief before moving on to combining both these scripts to create an abstract calligraphy artwork. &nbsp;Panna will provide you with a calligraphy pack, including practice sheets, to use on the day which you can take home with you. In this one-day, beginners' workshop with artist Panna Chauhan, you will study both the italic and foundational scripts, and learn how to use these in unique and abstract ways to create a framed calligraphy artwork ready to hang at home.
The foundational and italic scripts are different in the way they are written, and because of the way the pen is held, and each has a unique look and style.
Under Panna's watchful eye, you will spend the morning learning and practicing letter forms in the basic foundational hand (or script): learning about the different types of nibs; correct sizing of letters; and how to hold the pen with the right tension to achieve a fluid letter.
After a break for lunch, you will study the italic hand in brief before moving on to combining both these scripts to create an abstract calligraphy artwork. 
Panna will provide you with a calligraphy pack, including practice sheets, to use on the day which you can take home with you. 
We hope your calligraphy pack and framed artwork will serve as a reminder of your day, and inspire you to keep practising your new-found lettering skills at home.

Using silver clay, a material made up of recycled silver particles, an organic binder and water, you will learn how to make two different types of fine silver rings. Anna will take you through all the steps needed to create your own pieces ready for firing.&nbsp;
You will complete two projects: a flat band ring, and a D profile ring (as shown in the photographs). You will learn how to design your rings, calculate your size to take shrinkage into account, make your own bespoke pieces and embellish with textures and a gemstone. If you want to make a ring for someone else please remember to check their ring size before coming!&nbsp;
Your rings will be taken away for kiln firing at the end of the session and will be posted to you within one week (It is recommended that rings are kiln fired rather than torch fired). Alternatively, your rings can be collected from The Arienas Collective by arrangement.

Tutor: Joseph WilsonDuring this 4-week course, we will use conventional black and white analogue materials in conjunction with non-conventional techniques to create images that stradle ordinary photographic representation and alternative vision. We will deviate from standard darkroom production through the practical exploration of a range of techniques such as Sabattier printing, bas relief printing, cameraless photography, and various methods for pushing and pulling film. These otherworldly techniques &ndash; many of which have been the basis for contemporary digital manipulation tools &ndash; offer abundant possibility for alternative photographic vision, where emphasis is placed on the transformative potential of darkroom work.This course would be the perfect follow up from our Intro to B&amp;W or Colour Darkroom courses.All materials including photographic film and paper will be provided during this course. Do you have a growing mountain of negatives and/or prints and wish to have them as digital files? This course will equip you with the skills to digitally archive your collection ready for reprinting and sharing online!It can be intimidating to approach alone, but this class will break the process down into an easy step-by-step tutorial &ndash; from scanning, to editing, and exporting. Having completed the course, participants will have a solid understanding of the required processes and can go on to take full control of their negatives and potential outputs. This workshop will take you through the scanning process &ndash; turning analogue negatives/prints into digital files &ndash; using two different scanners: an Epson flatbed and a Hasselblad virtual drum scanner. Providing an opportunity to look at how best to scan and restore prints as well as negatives, you will learn the benefits of both scanning systems and understand when and why to use them.Once images are scanned, you will then be shown how to take full advantage of all the information you have captured to really get the most out of the files. The course will guide you through the editing process using Adobe Photoshop to bring your photos up to the highest standard, utilizing colour correction, levels, adjustments as well as a walkthrough of the processes used to clean dust and scratches from your images.&nbsp;You will be shown how to export files for digital printing as well as for sharing online.All equipment and software will be provided for you, but in order to get the most out of the course&nbsp;you are encouraged to bring along a varied selection of negatives and/or prints to use during the course. How do I attend?

EITHER -
CLASSROOM OPTION - Attend one of our scheduled classroom locations, completing your Introduction to Phlebotomy Course over 2 days. You will also complete your Advanced Training at the end of the first day and your Competency Training at the end of the second day.

Our Introduction to Phlebotomy and Advanced Phlebotomy Training Kits are supplied at no charge when booking our virtual classroom training option.
If you would like to add one or both of these kits to your classroom training option then these are available to add at time of booking. Our comprehensive training kits each mirror the same equipment and supplies used in the classroom and both include detailed video tutorials, allowing you to continue to practice and "hone" your skills after you have completed your practical training.

VIRTUAL CLASSROOM OPTION- Complete your theory training online at home or work, then join us for a one day Zoom session to complete your Introduction to Phlebotomy virtual classroom training, followed by your Advanced Training in the evening of the same day. You have the option to add a classroom-based competency session, awarding a CPD Accredited Geopace Certificate of Competency, at time of booking.

Our Virtual Classroom option includes two very comprehensive training kits - one for your introductory course and one for your advanced course. Kits are included at no charge (normally £79.95 each) and are yours to keep and to continue to practice with after you have finished your courses. The equipment and supplies included in your kits are the same as those used if you choose the classroom option.
