<p>This is an essential programme for any member of staff whose role requires a high level of attention to detail. The focus is specifically on the handling of text and data, whether at the input stage or when collating information into reports and documents for use by others.</p><p>The session looks at both prevention and cure. For 'prevention', it focuses on understanding how common errors occur and on developing an awareness of the factors which influence our level of attentiveness. It introduces key psychological theories around attentiveness including the 'capacity' and 'bottleneck filter' models. <h2>Course Details</h2><p>Overview of the CITB SMSTS-R Course
The CITB Site Managers Safety Training Scheme course is designed for delegates who have previously passed the full Site management safety training scheme (SMSTS) course or subsequent refresher course, and can provide proof of attendance. It aims to bring health and safety knowledge up-to-date, as well as giving a thorough overview of the legislative changes and their impact in the workplace. The course provides an opportunity to revisit the wide range of topics from the previous five-day course.

Entry requirements
The refresher course is only for delegates who have previously passed the five-day SMSTS or subsequent refresher course, and hold a valid SMSTS certificate. Evidence must be provided to the training provider of their eligibility.

Assessment
Successful completion of the course requires the delegate to pass an exam paper at the end of the course. 

The paper consists of 25 questions, selected by CITB, covering all aspects of the course. The exam paper must be taken at the end of the course. 
Each paper has: 
• 18 multiple choice questions (each worth one mark) 
• 7 questions in multi-response or short written answer format (each worth two marks)

The exam pass mark is 81% (26 out of 32). The exam lasts for 35 minutes and must be completed within this time under exam conditions. Delegates are permitted to use the Construction site safety - The comprehensive guide (GE700) publication for the last 15 minutes of the exam.

Length of Course
This is a two-day course. Delegates are required to complete the full course (15 hours) to be eligible for certification.

The course aims to bring health and safety knowledge up-to-date, as well as giving a thorough overview of the legislative changes and their impact in the workplace. The course provides an opportunity to revisit the wide range of topics from the previous five-day course.

How do I attend?

EITHER -
CLASSROOM OPTION - Attend one of our scheduled classroom locations, completing your Introduction to Phlebotomy Course over 2 days. You will also complete your Advanced Training at the end of the first day and your Competency Training at the end of the second day.

Our Introduction to Phlebotomy and Advanced Phlebotomy Training Kits are supplied at no charge when booking our virtual classroom training option.
If you would like to add one or both of these kits to your classroom training option then these are available to add at time of booking. Our comprehensive training kits each mirror the same equipment and supplies used in the classroom and both include detailed video tutorials, allowing you to continue to practice and "hone" your skills after you have completed your practical training.

VIRTUAL CLASSROOM OPTION- Complete your theory training online at home or work, then join us for a one day Zoom session to complete your Introduction to Phlebotomy virtual classroom training, followed by your Advanced Training in the evening of the same day. You have the option to add a classroom-based competency session, awarding a CPD Accredited Geopace Certificate of Competency, at time of booking.

Our Virtual Classroom option includes two very comprehensive training kits - one for your introductory course and one for your advanced course. Kits are included at no charge (normally £79.95 each) and are yours to keep and to continue to practice with after you have finished your courses. The centrifuge - overview. Safe operation and use. Managing a centrifuge breakage or spillage.

0 degrees, 37 degrees C and other non-standard conditions.

2 - Syringe and Needle (open system): Correct use and applications.
3 - Monovette (open and closed systems):
Using the Monovette system in aspiration mode - correct use and applications.
Using the Monovette system in evacuated mode - correct use and applications.
4 - IR Vein Detector:
Demonstration of the IR vein detector for assisting in detection of difficult veins.
5 - Veins in back of hand:
Detecting suitable veins in the back of the hand.
6 - POC testing:
Point of Care Testing - use of glucose meter to demonstrate a typical POC test procedure. Correct use and overview of other POC test devices.
7 - Using lancets (finger collection)
We look at the correct use of lancets for POC testing and whole blood micro-collection.
8 - Using lancets (heel collection)
We look at the correct use of lancets for neonatal blood spot tests (Guthrie Test).
9 - Capillary collection
Using glass capillary tubes for micro-collection. Correct use and handling.
10 - Microtube collection
Correct use of BD Microtainers (and similar micro-collection bottles) - collection and handling.

Our Peripheral IV Cannulation Course and Injection Course training kits are supplied at no charge when booking our virtual classroom training option.
If you would like to add one or both of these kits to your classroom training option then these are available for you to add at time of booking. Training kits mirror the same equipment and supplies used in the classroom and both include detailed video instructions, allowing you to continue to practice and "hone" your skills after you have completed your practical training.

VIRTUAL CLASSROOM OPTION- Complete your theory training online at home or work, then join us for your one full day to complete your cannulation and injection course training.

Our Virtual Classroom option includes two very comprehensive training kits - one for your cannulation course and one for your injection course. Kits are included at no charge (normally £79.95 and £39.95 respectively) and are yours to keep and to continue to practice with after you have finished your courses.
