Grange Pavilion is a partnership project between residents’ group Grange Pavilion Project, Grangetown Community Action, Cardiff University and Cardiff Council to redevelop a previously-vacant bowls pavilion into a top quality community facility. This space will provide affordable space-for-hire, a community-focused café offering employment and training opportunities to local young people, outdoor gardening, growing opportunities and much-needed public amenities in a popular inner-city park.Between June 2016 and November 2018, residents tested projects in the old building. In that time, Grange Pavilion brought together more than 3,000 residents, was used by over 100 stakeholders, and launched 150 community-led initiatives in response to community-generated ideas resulting in over 1,000 sessions/activities on site. Projects included the Grange Pavilion Youth Forum, a Girls’ Hub, reading sessions, Friends and Neighbours meetings, NHS Mental Health Peer Support Group, a Creative Tech Café, a community Iftar, a gardening club with a local primary school, ESOL classes, a homework club, adult learners’ week activities and careers and role models’ week.

Pinkspiration aims to inspire young people and transform communities. Our business was founded in July 2011 and offers skills based training to gain on site experience increasing knowledge to progress into industry, regenerating some of the 380,000 empty spaces and empty shops across the United Kingdom. Our business offers industry placements, mentoring, advice and guidance. Up skilling the next generation of young people to help close the increasing skills gap. Our team offers a number of opportunities through industry placements on our TV programme Transforming Spaces‘ Design Factor’ featured on BBC. Since launch 8,500 young people directly up skilled of which 70% have progressed onto training, employment or Starting Up. Our construction sites are 50/50 gender split and our teams have re-generated 16 empty spaces, empty homes, heritage buildings and worked on Wales largest road scheme a £400 million programme. REAL ISSUES * Nearly 1 million young people unemployed * Over 380,000 empty spaces & empty shops in the UK * 
Over 220 million tons of waste generated for Landfill * Only 3% of women in manual trades, 5% in engineering and only 2% of female owned businesses in Wales Transforming Spaces: Design Factor Our construction projects transforms empty and unused spaces through working with the community on the planning, design and build. Working with build experts and volunteers from the community it acts like DIY SOS/60 minute makeover. The aim is to up skill young people and members of the community to gain on site experience. If you have an empty space or empty building our team will work with you on the planning, design and rebuild of the space to turn it into a thriving community provision. Training on the site includes: planning, construction, managing budgets, Marketing, enterprise, business and managing the whole project. Our team and the experts will work on site for around one week to re-build the space and encourage volunteers to become involved and progress into training, employment or Starting Up. Helping people to gain vital industry experience to progress their career. The whole process is filmed and broadcast. Our build projects have included Wales First Garden City Café, The Hope Centre-Newport, Blaenau Gwent Community Hub-Waundeg, Empty Shops Project-Cardiff & Newport, State of the Art Cinema Room using Recycled Pallets- Cwmbran Centre for Young People, Penygraig Empty Shop, Newport Heritage Building. Our Dawlish campus is situated in the coastal town of Dawlish near Exeter. It is a short walk from the town centre and the golden beach, with excellent transport links via bus or the Great western train line to Exeter, Plymouth and beyond. At Dawlish we provide learning programmes for around 80 learners, a small number of whom enjoy the residential experience in our onsite shared property, and in single and shared flats and houses in the nearby area. Our Torpoint campus is situated just a short walk from the ferryport and enjoys beautiful views of the River Tamar and beyond. We attract learners from both Plymouth and Cornwall to study here. Students benefit from accessing our local Torpoint community, but also take part in the huge range of trips and activities that Plymouth has to offer. At Oakwood Torpoint we provide learning for up to 25 learners. Torpoint is a day student only campus. Our newest campus, Oakwood Yate, is located in Yate, South Glos. with excellent transport links to Bristol and beyond. The campus benefits from being centrally located in the bustling town centre of Yate with a wide range of shops and leisure facilities providing excellent work experience and community access for our learners. At Oakwood Yate we provide learning for up to 15 learners. Yate is a day student only campus. The College’s focus is to develop the knowledge and skills of every learner to prepare them for independent life, living and work. We provide individualised and bespoke learning programmes that follow the pathways to adulthood, and include employment related qualifications and work experience. KIRAN (also known as KIRAN Cymru) is committed to improving mental wellbeing of Black Asian Ethnic Minority people living in Wales. We particularly focus on people over 50 and young people. However, all of our activities are ‘open to all’, and we welcome everyone to participate. We currently have several projects to promote mental wellbeing. Please see below to learn about the projects and visit their respective websites. KIRAN Legal - Free Legal Help This is a pilot project by KIRAN Cymru. We help financially disadvantaged BAME members in Wales by offering free legal support (Benefits, Housing and employment) and interpretation/translation services in Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, Sylheti, Punjabi and Gujrati. Please visit, kiranlegal.co.uk for more information. Friends in Need - Befriending Service This is a pilot project by KIRAN Cymru. Since March 2020, we have been helping BAME people in Cardiff with their day-to-day needs, i.e., grocery shopping. We also ring elderly community members regularly to keep in touch and overcome loneliness through our befriending service. Our ‘Friends in Need’ service helps BAME people in Wales to connect with other people and fight social isolation. Our Communities Our Strength - Wellbeing for BAME People This is a project by KIRAN Cymru. This project started in March 2021. We aim to combat the adverse effects of COVID 19 pandemic by creating regular and structured opportunities for BAME community members to connect with each other through virtual meet-ups, games, and cultural activities. We offer various opportunities for all BAME people in Wales to connect with other people in virtual social meet-ups, e.g., book clubs, bridge clubs, learning musical instruments, e.g., Piano and Tabla. There is also a community musical group for you to join. As a part of this project, we have started an English Online Magazine called Story Cloud. All community members are encouraged to take part in creative writing. KIRAN Cymru offers free guidance and training on ‘Creative Writing’. It is a beautiful skill and can improve the confidence and self-esteem of the writer. Please get in touch with us if you want to take part in creative writing. Story Cloud will publish the selected short stories, poetry and feature written by community members. Apart from the above, we offer other befriending services for local communities.
