She’s currently freelancing and is in direct contact with many of the big publishing houses: Hachette, Bonnier Books, and book packager, Working Partners Ltd, among others. She also works with the Caroline Wakeman Literary Agency, assessing their authors’ work for commercial viability, as well as scouting for new talent. For twelve years, Lil was a Senior Commissioning Editor at Working Partners Ltd – the creatives behind massive commercial hits such as Beast Quest, Warriors and the Daisy Meadows series. There she created globally successful concepts for every age group and developed storylines so the books were unputdownable. Eloise Schoeman is Fine Artist specializing in realist painting. Born in Bristol, United Kingdom but has lived in South Africa from 2008 until recently. She studied Fine Arts at Tshwane University of Technology where she was mentored by the renowned Dr Jan van der Merwe. After completing her degree Eloise relocated to Plymouth, United Kingdom to complete her Masters in Painting at the Arts University Plymouth. From the beginning, Eloise has seen a clear link between her photography and painting, the one not being complete without the other. In her practice, she starts by taking photographs of scenes or moments that feel familiar to her and then through the editing process she manipulates the images into compositions. Her final stage of editing a photograph is painting the work, in this way she dissects the colours, tones and details, considering where to put emphasis or lack thereof. She creates her artworks on large scale canvas using acrylic which allows her to create works fast and not overanalyze her instinctive decisions. The scale of the artworks is purposeful; Eloise wants her paintings to be immersive.

Kate feels extremely privileged to have worked with her hands for much of her adult life making sculpture and working stone. It has suited her practical and creative nature and has offered her the opportunity to design and make sculpture of every scale for both public spaces and private homes. She particularly enjoys site specific projects and draws inspiration from the people and environment connected to the place where sculpture will be placed. Kate says “you have to look sideways at a subject, see it with fresh eyes to bring originality and life into a sculpture, I try to create a dialogue between myself as the artist, the material and the place.” Kate has taken this idea further by creating Elysium Memorials where she collaborates with other artists to design and make artworks as unique memorials for the home and garden as an alternative to a headstone. Each one is a reflection of a life in the form of an artwork that can be kept and handed down through a family. The teaching of stone carving and sculpture brings her great pleasure too, helping people to develop their skills and watching the pleasure they gain from working stone. Kate says “I try to adjust my teaching to the student’s needs, it’s incredible what beginners can achieve if guided well. I established my business creating distinctive and intricate rugs and textile art in 2014, and I specialise in hand-weaving using long established techniques, such as Krokbragd. (The one that no-one likes to say out loud). After being taught rug weaving by the late Susan Foster at art college in the 1990’s, I pursued a career in costume for a number of years whilst continuing to weave on small scale collections. During this time I developed the original style for which I have become known since setting up my business. I combine my weaving with an instinctive and daring approach to colour and it’s the creative process of importing a contemporary element to the time honoured techniques of weaving and the responses from the viewer which most excite me. A year spent living in India and more recently, the dynamic graffiti and houses in my Bristol neighbourhood, have influenced the fabulously joyful palette which is intrinsic to my weaving. Working in reclaimed high quality rug wool and a variety of other yarns I meticulously hand-weave and finish all the original pieces myself on my Glimakra Floor loom at BV Studios in Bristol. Some of my designs are then produced in small batches through various partnerships.

SOPHIE RAE IS A MURAL ARTIST WORKING PREDOMINANTLY IN BRISTOL, LONDON + THE SOUTH WEST SPECIALISING IN BOLD, COLOURFUL, BOTANICAL, ABSTRACT DESIGNS Sophie Rae loves gliding a paintbrush across a smooth surface, transforming bland grey walls into beautiful works of art. It is truly where she gets in the flow. She loves working on walls outside and in, large scale murals as well as smaller ones. She’s painted murals in gardens, cafes, bars, restaurants, offices, schools, shop and high street facades and hoardings, to name a few. Drawing inspiration from plants (glorious plants) and enlarging, and playing with abstraction until a sweet balanced composition emerges. As well as mural painting Sophie creates beautiful prints, lovingly handcrafted, without using a press. Shapes are sketched and refined, then cut by hand with a craft knife into stencils. A roller then applies ink in the gaps. This helps give each print its irregularities. If you’re after learning from Sophie Rae she can be found sharing her unique printing technique, inspiring and igniting creativity through (fairly) regularly teaching workshops. Aerial PerformerHello, and welcome to my site! I am a multidisciplinary aerial acrobat and circus performer. My journey to becoming a professional aerial performer and teacher started after moving to the UK from Spain, where I grew up. It was not until I saw a breathtaking aerial show in 2004 that I knew I wanted to become an aerialist. Shortly after realising I wanted to pursue a career in circus, I joined a 2 year professional full time course in aerial acrobatics in Bristol, specialising in silks, corde lisse and aerial hoop. Straight out of circus school I landed my first ever performing job, a year contract with a traditional circus company in North India, that was both challenging and fascinating. I have never looked back. In 2012 I went back to India to work at Kingdom of Dreams, the first large scale live entertainment theatre in India. The Bollywood style musical shows at KOD feature a fully automated flying system covering an area of 30m x 20m and almost 20 meters above the heads of the audience. I worked there for several months as head of aerial with the dancers involved in the aerial scenes, mainly hanger type harness and silks. The shows at Kingdom of Dreams feature a lot of heavy props flown across the auditorium in conjunction with the performers. Another big circus production I have been part of is Circus Rocks by the Generating Company, a UK touring show around seaside holiday resorts where I performed rope and was part of the aerial and dance ensembles.

WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT? Our approach is light touch with minimal intervention in the environment and prioritising nature. We are currently developing our site facilities and creating spaces for small groups and low impact events. These include bushcraft, forest school, wellbeing sessions, forest bathing, yoga, pilates, artist retreats etc. We’re already working with schools, charities, youth and arts groups. If you've got a small scale event, workshop or idea you'd like to make happen, we would love to hear from you. Just drop us a message on our contact page. NATURE Our ethos is very much one of balance, so for us plants and animals are as important as people. We are currently working with fantastic environmental advisors to establish what plants and animals are currently residing on our site. Our aim is to protect the habitats that already exist, create a comprehensive management plan and increase biodiversity where possible. It's all about the science! In common with most of the British Isles the land here has been managed by humans for hundreds of years - a mixture of farming, park land and old tree plantations. It’s not wild in the true sense of an untouched natural ecosystem but it’s a special place that has been left pretty much to itself for several decades. We’re just starting our long term project to create more detailed surveys of the flora and fauna, and are excited to meet and work with new people. Zion is a Community Hub in Bedminster Down, where everyone is welcome. We provide a warm safe space for community groups to run, our cafe is open 9-5pm every weekday and we put on an array of affordable events. Although originally a church, Zion was bought in 2011 by Jess Wright, who lovingly crafted Zion into an essential and well loved hub in Bedminster Down. In the Summer of 2022, members of the community, local businesses and grant organisations came together to purchase Zion as a community share offer! Once a focus for the local community of Bedminster Down, this historic chapel had been left derelict after the congregation could no longer afford to sustain it. Jess wanted to breathe life back into this beautiful building, a real landmark in BS13. She also wanted to create a much-needed community centre in a residential area with few social or cultural venues. She wanted a place where people of all ages and backgrounds (especially those who were isolated or excluded) could meet to improve wellbeing on a personal and community level. Using a small start-up budget of £5,000 (her own money), Jess began renovating the building. Thanks to the support of a small team of volunteers, Zion opened its doors to the community once again; this time as a small-scale café serving coffee and cakes, and offering a few extras such as film nights and kids’ creative sessions. Over the past 11 years, Zion Community Art Space has become ever more popular. It attracts 15,000 people a year and is now open at least five days a week, offering: a daytime community café that serves freshly made food at an affordable price a broad programme of over 200 events and activities a year, ranging from quiz nights and children’s workshops, to live music, theatre, talks and food events regular daytime drop-in groups such as a Memories Café, Creative Writing Group, Local History Group and Breast-Feeding Support an indoor and outdoor private hire venue for weddings, parties and other celebrations
