We are a small friendly diving club offering scuba diver training, club diving trips and social activities. We've been around for over 60 years, and have a range of friendly members with different diving experiences. We meet at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre on a Wednesday evening. Our pool time is 20:45 - 21:45, and we have theory sessions running beforehand. We are fortunte to have weekly access to the diving pit which is 6 metres deep. We usually meet up in the Old Queens Head pub after our pool session to share diving stories and organise trips. We dive in the UK most months and also organise trips in both the UK and overseas - see our club calendar for details of trips coming up and social events. But if you really want to get to know the club read our members stories or visit us at a club night. We welcome people new to diving and those already qualified with BSAC, PADI, CMAS, SSI etc. Please make contact and we will be in touch about how to join us!

About Us The City of Sheffield Diving Club was established in the early 1980’s at its former home ‘Sheaf Valley Baths’, officially opened in November 1972. In 1991, the Club relocated to Ponds Forge Sports International Centre which opened on the site where Sheaf Valley pool stood. Ponds Forge hosts regional, national and international diving competitions and camps and is extremely proud to have hosted a leg of the FINA International Diving World Series in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011. The training environment is one of the biggest 10 metre venues in Britain, with two dry-diving areas, an air track and a unique tailor-made diving trampoline. The diving pool has the only 1 metre overhead wet harness in the Great Britain and the most amount of diving springboards in the UK.

As lockdown begins to ease the centre is preparing to welcome back our customers. However, it is important to understand that currently we are running on a limited staffing level. We would ask anyone wishing to visit the shop please ring first and make an appointment to prevent any disappointment in not being able to serve you. Swim England is involved in determining when it is safe to re-open pools alongside local councils in our case Chesterfield Borough Council (Queens Park Leisure Centre) Open water training should be available soon however, we know there are going to be restrictions in place and dive sites will most likely be operating a booking system to control their operations whilst maintaining Government guidelines. The NPLQ covers all elements of Pool Rescue Techniques, Lifeguarding Theory, First Aid and CPR. The course is physically demanding and will include swimming to set times, lifting casualties and diving to the deepest part of the swimming pool. Training and assessment for the NPLQ is in three sections and all must be successfully passed to attain the qualification.
