In our Teen Jazz Dance Class, you'll explore the depth and breadth of this amazing dance form, working on your technique while also letting your creativity soar. Our class dives right into the heart of jazz dance. You'll master the intricate jazz steps and techniques, from the playful "jazz box" to the graceful "fouetté turns". You'll also work on those dramatic leaps and turns, which not only look spectacular but also help improve your flexibility, coordination, and plasticity. But our class is about so much more than just dance moves. It's a space where you can truly express yourself. We place a lot of emphasis on artistic performance and expression, encouraging you to develop your unique dance style. You'll learn how to convey emotions through your movements, giving your performance that extra sparkle that will leave everyone mesmerised. What makes jazz dance so fascinating is its diversity. To showcase this, our class will introduce you to choreography from different jazz styles, from the classic Broadway jazz to the energetic Afro-jazz, and even the smooth lyrical jazz. Lacing up your heels for this class is completely optional - but bringing your vibrant energy and giving it your all is non-negotiable! As we explore a dazzling array of poses and dance techniques, you'll also be learning some irresistibly fun and seductive choreography that's guaranteed to turn heads. In this workshop, I explain the neurobiology of memory with a focus on motor memory. I provide techniques that can be applied and I access each student individually. Memory, as much as it seems, is not a singular process! The reason why someone struggles to memorise choreography can have many causes. See the 'about' section for workshop samples. “Filmmaking is a chance to live many lifetimes” - Robert Altman -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Film Production Course is led by highly experienced videographer and cinematographer Max Jewell-Smith, and award-winning actor and producer Henry Hereford, who has been working in the industry for more than 20 years in the UK, Australia and the US. Henry is a producer with the production company, Fluffy Cat, who have worked on films such as For The Love Of George, To Leslie, and Well Behaved Woman, so he has plenty of unique insight to share with students. With a mix of technical skills, script writing and acting, students on our Film Production course will work together to create a short film that they will showcase on Friday. ‍ WHEN AND WHERE? The Film Production Course takes place in Cranleigh Arts Centre, around 20 minutes from Guildford. The venue has a professional theatre, a sprung dance floor for choreography sessions, dressing rooms, and lots of great areas for filming and multimedia activities, so it's the perfect spot for our aspiring performers to learn in. ‍ Monday 22nd - Friday 26th July 2023 In2Drama is split into two groups for age related focus 11-15 year olds: 1pm - 4:00pm 16-21 year olds: 9am - 12:00pm

Peter is the Theatre Manager for Cranleigh Schools and has worked as the Technical Manager producing shows and events for Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, as well as touring with Encore Dance Company. This specialised course gives students a glimpse behind the curtains at the theatre, and the basic skills they need to work in this industry. It's perfect for anyone who wants to work in crucial behind-the-scenes roles in theatre, as each day contains practical training on subjects like lighting, design, sound, projection, setup and operation. In fact, you'll be taught the process of putting on a show, and get hands-on experience when you use what you've learned to run the technical side of the live shows at the end of the Academy! ‍ WHEN AND WHERE? “Music is the movement of sound to reach the soul for the education of its virtue.” - Plato -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Music Production Masterclass is a 2-day course led by music producer and Musical Theatre student, Jack Howells Davies, alongside a secondary Music Production tutor (TBC). With experience in music technology, composing, producing music for video, film scoring, composition and more, Jack’s expertise will help guide budding music producers on their journey to creating amazing music for a variety of formats.  Jack is currently studying a BA in Musical Theatre at the Conservatoire, and also has professional training at Hurtwood House, Guildford School of Acting and Stagecoach in a number of musical styles and genres, as well as experience in musical theatre audition technique, so he is a great asset to our teaching faculty who can advise in a number of areas.   When you join this 2-day intensive course, you’ll learn the art of production which can help every type of creative to showcase their musical talents in the best way. This course will help students develop skills to produce music for outlets such as film and television soundtracks, and music videos, and musicians will even have the opportunity to write and play contemporary music for performance. ‍ WHEN AND WHERE? You will have a supportive environment to ask any questions you have about auditioning for drama schools or casting calls, and explore many acting techniques with the help of an industry professional.
