The objective of this qualification the Highfield Level 2 Award in Food Safety is to prepare learners for employment in catering role, or to support a role in the workplace. Learners gaining this qualification will know that safety in catering and manufacturing is the responsibility of everyone involved in the storage, preparation, cooking service and handling of ingredients. Its topics are regarded by the Foods Standards Agency as being important to maintaining good practice in the production of safe food, and are as follows: An introduction to food safety Microbiological hazards Contamination hazards and controls Food poisoning and its control Personal hygiene Design of premises and equipment Cleaning and disinfection Food pests and control Food safety management from purchase to service Food safety law and enforcement Revision and examination technique

This year, we’re focusing on feeling good. Exploring how and why yoga helps to lift our mood and downregulate our nervous system. Each day, we’ll practice yoga, breathwork and meditation. We’ll walk across the downs and down to the beach for a swim, maybe light a bonfire as the sun sets.

Learners will develop knowledge from the FD&FA foundation courses (C01 modules 1 and 2) and/or industry experience with specific regard to more complex system design considerations.

Recent changes to Forestry Commission policy recommend those who work in the Forestry industry attend training which includes additional topics relevant to the risks and nature or their work. The Forestry Commission recommend topics including: * Crush Injuries * Catastrophic bleeding including chainsaw including chainsaw injuries and gun shot wounds * Hypothermia / Exposure * Suspension injuries * Lyme's Disease * Lightning & High Voltage injuries * Casualty evacuation planning These are in addition to the normal Emergency First Aid criteria. Who Should Attend? This course is ideal for those who work or intend to work in a forestry, agricultural or remote environment, such as tree surgeons and farmers. Professional vs Personal boundaries and how they differ. How trauma impacts personal power and the ability to establish boundaries. Signs of boundary violations. How boundaries support wellbeing. Conflict Resolution June 6th 9.15am – 12.30pm (Sports & Community Centre, Kingstanding) Training will include: Defining conflict and exploring the risks vs the benefits of conflict. Looking at anger and aggression. Understanding how the brain responds to threat and danger. Exploring the practical communication strategies effective in the prevention and de-escalation of conflict. Equality, Diversity & Inclusion June 11th 9.30am – 12.45pm (Nature & Wellbeing Centre, Ladywood) Training will include: The Equality Act and protected characteristics. Different forms of discrimination. How ‘membership’ of specific groups might bring advantage or disadvantage. Understanding the ‘multi layered’ nature of discrimination. Understanding how diversity and inclusion can positively impact and change what we do.
