By Cocomms - Coherent Communications

Effective communication in the workplace is part and parcel of our daily lives, but not everyone is a natural.  Do you find it tough standing up in front of people? Does the thought of engaging with audiences in any setting fill you with anxiety? Is doing a remote video message to colleagues on Zoom or Teams a tough call? Do you do it regularly but need some professional guidance on whether it’s working? At CoComms we can improve every aspect of your performance and offer a range of tips and techniques to help manage these environments and keep your audience engaged and interested. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PUBLIC SPEAKING AND PRESENTATION TRAINING In a professional setting it’s vital to come across as dynamic, trustworthy, credible and real. You want people to trust you and in turn get behind your vision or plan or proposal. If you can achieve this you can improve your confidence, your engagement and your prospects. Our training is designed to hone your presentation skills so whether you are pitching for work, taking colleagues through change or speaking to a new audience, you can do it with a clarity and confidence that makes your messages clear and insightful. The training includes: * Perfecting your slides Working to produce a clean, easy to navigate slide deck that give logic and flow to your presentation. * Developing your storytelling We use our journalistic techniques to show you how to build a story to keep your audience engaged with a well-structured and entertaining presentation. * Calls to Action Make sure it is clear what you want to achieve and what you want from your audience. * Rehearse and Review We film and then playback a range of practical presentation exercises so we can review your performance and work to make any improvements. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CONFERENCE AND PANEL TRAINING The audience at a conference may be a captive one, but that doesn’t mean they are always listening and engaging with what you have to say. We can make sure your keynote speech or panel contribution is memorable, appreciated by your audience and beneficial to your business. Our training looks at preparing for and delivering a speech from start to finish and includes: * Defining your big ideas What is it you want to say and what do you want your audience to remember? * Develop your narrative and script How can you get across your message using storytelling. * Choosing the right language How vibrant and energised language can make the difference in your speech. * The tips and tricks to make sure your speech is memorable How vocabulary and delivery techniques ensure your words are heard. * Controlling the message How to deal with unhelpful questions and return to the main aspects of your story. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- STAKEHOLDER COMMUNICATION TRAINING Engaging effectively with stakeholders with clarity and confidence can make all the difference to your relationships. A successful “town hall” meeting can win over your sceptics, convince those who are unsure and build a common goal between your business and stakeholders. Our stakeholder communication training prepares you for these vital meetings and includes: * Focusing the meeting We look at how to control the meeting so the important business is covered and how to prepare for any questions or comments you may receive. * Keep control of the conversation We teach you conversational techniques to focus on the main points without being too assertive or dismissive. * Rehearse and Review We use video and practical role-play exercises to assess your performance and look for ways to improve. * Breaking down the information We look at how to present facts and figures without overwhelming (or boring!) your audience. Our techniques will help you narrate the message in a clear and comprehensive way. * Making an impact Using our journalistic experience we will work with you to develop your presentation skills to make the biggest impact and demonstrate credibility and authority. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VIDEO CALLS FOR BUSINESS The world has changed. Now is the time to ensure your business is changing too. Many in-person meetings, conferences, networking events and clients hosting are, for now, a thing of the past. These face-to-face interactions have been replaced by video calls, webinars and online events. So, how do you develop contacts, maintain relationships and manage your team in this new virtual world? How do you look and sound confident, be heard, and build trust  and credibility through a computer screen? At CoComms, we are online communications experts and our years of experience in broadcasting mean we understand how to engage a virtual audience. * Interactive and practical training We work with you through a variety of scenarios to analyse your performance on video calls. * Feedback on your performance We offer supportive, positive feedback and share our tried and tested techniques so you can improve. * Make Video Calls work for you Through our training you will become more confident, more productive and more dynamic on video calls. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CONTACT US If you have a query regarding any of our services or would like to book a consultation for free initial advice and guidance please get in touch

Ushering The Team Back To The Workplace

By Dickson Training Ltd

Most organisations and businesses are trying to navigate the best way back to a functional working framework. But two things need to happen - 1. The working practices need to be efficient, sustainable and compatible for meeting the demands and needs of the organisation; it’s clients, it’s workforce and it’s Leaders 2. The culture needs to be welcoming, authentic and supportive otherwise there will be disenfranchisement and potentially a churn of staff and loss of talent What has been proven to be a very successful approach to mitigate the dangers of demotivated team members and poor efficiency levels is a bespoke ‘Ushering the Team Back to the Workplace’ workshop. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PROGRAMME OUTLINE Below is a template of an actual Programme that has been delivered very successfully for clients such as the NHS; Claranet; Jotun Paints & Workspace. This, however, can be modified to suit any group or size. It will be designed to reflect the Organisation’s preferred Hybrid working framework and communication systems. The options of having the innovative Real Play technique to help handle delicate conversations is especially effective. The biggest gain is to reconnect the relationships via the activities and exercises, which would be selected carefully. Key commitments and buy-in is always the priority outcomes - which this programme will help deliver in just 1 day. The objectives include: * Making the transition back to working as a collaborative team * Enhancing the Leadership skills of the team * Reviewing/establishing the Hybrid working protocols * Galvanising the Team spirit * Maintain inclusivity among full-time; part-time and Region based team members * Energising and motivational * Fun! EXERCISE – ROUND THE BEND The team are to follow the instructions delivered as they walk (and jump) through the route – always keeping a safe distance apart. The instructions become more complicated as they progress. DEBRIEFING POINTS: * Dealing with Change * Attention to Detail * Adapting approach * Optimising results EXERCISE - NUMBER CRUNCH (3 x Cohorts of 12/13) The team must be effectively led and motivated to work as one unified group to reach their objective of visiting each numbered location within a very tight deadline. DEBRIEFING POINTS: * Support and co-ordination * Strategy and planning * Adapting approach * Optimising results TUTORIAL – TEAM DYNAMICS * Tuckman model * Phases of Development towards Maturity EXERCISE - JUGGLING (3 x Cohorts of 12/13) The group(s) will be invited to optimise the number of ‘clients’ (juggling balls) they can manage at one time. This involves devising a sequence between the group to achieve maximum results without making any mistakes. We introduce different balls which represent different degrees of complexity, challenging the group’s preparation and approach to a variety ‘customers’ needs. DEBRIEFING POINTS: * Ensuring effective communication * Clarifying the approach for dealing with the unexpected * Setting expectations and reviewing delivery * Treating every colleague with care and respect TUTORIAL - EMAIL ETIQUETTE * The primary standards – best practices * ABSURD model * Preparation and planning * Top Tips WORLD CAFE The team are split into 5-6 sub-groups – each with a specific review focus:- * What recommendations do you have to engage the team back into the Workplace? * How do we ensure the framework is efficient? * What are the best ways to optimise team working strategically when most/all team members are in the office? * What potential barriers are there? * How do we accommodate for the Regional team members? * What are the benefits to bringing the team back to the workplace? Each session has 2 – 3 rounds with each table’s ‘host’ sharing feedback for applying to the Team Action Plan – or Charter. DEBRIEFING POINTS: * Each Syndicate’s recommendations and capture the key actions they generate 'REAL PLAY' We offer an innovative solution to bring real Leadership/team scenarios to life. We use actors who improvise scenarios which have been specified by the group. * The group is split the group into 2 sub-groups, one with the Actor, the other with the Trainer. * Each group has a brief and has to instruct their Trainer/Actor on how to approach the scenario supplied. * The Actor and Trainer perform the role play(s) as instructed by their respective teams; however, during the action they can be paused for further recommendations or direction. * The outcome is the responsibility of the team(s) – not the performers Assign 24 x ‘Directors’ (4 for each Player – Phil & Julia – for each Real Play. POTENTIAL REAL PLAY SCENARIOS: * Engaging with a team member as to how the new working plans will be applied. * Overcoming concerns to the new working practices/framework * Addressing issues where a team member feels excluded from the teamworking practices/culture Debrief the Programme Individual Action Plans Team Priorities for application into the workplace

Person Centred Planning using PATH and MAPs

By Inclusive Solutions

* What is Person Centred Planning? * How is it different to any other kind of meeting or planning? On this day all will become clear… Give your team the opportunity to pause and reflect on what matters most to them about the work they do. The act of listening to each other creates relationship and strengthens trust and inclusion within the team – in creating a shared vision, groups of people build a sense of commitment together. They develop images of ‘the future we want to create together’, along with the values that will be important in getting there and the goals they want to see achieved along the way. Unfortunately, many people still think ’vision’ is the top leader’s job. In schools, the ‘vision task’ usually falls to the Headteacher and/or the governors or it comes in a glossy document from the local authority or the DfES. But visions based on authority are not sustainable. Making inclusive action plans using full participation and graphic facilitation Drawing on the planning tools MAPS [https://inclusive-solutions.com/product/maps-process-step-by-step-guide/] and PATH [https://inclusive-solutions.com/product/path-process-step-by-step-guide/] (Pearpoint, Forest and O’Brien 1997) and other facilitation sources we use both process and graphic facilitation to enable the group to build their picture of what they would love to see happening within their organisation/community in the future and we encourage this to be a positive naming, not just a list of the things they want to avoid. Jack Pearpoint, Marsha Forest and John O’Brien developed these innovative approaches in North America and they are being used successfully in many parts of the UK. The planning can focus on an individual, group or organisation and provides a powerful problem solving opportunity, which is flexible and robust enough for many occasions. Tell the story, find the dream, touch the nightmare, and explore who you are, what are the gifts and strengths of the person or group, what are the needs of those present and what is the action plan for the future? LEARNING OBJECTIVES  * Participants understand Person Centred Planning and its values and applications * Participants have skills and confidence to facilitate PATH [https://inclusive-solutions.com/product/path-process-step-by-step-guide/]/MAP [https://inclusive-solutions.com/product/maps-process-step-by-step-guide/] processes * Participants learn graphic as well as process facilitation skills * Strengthens practitioners inclusive practice * Provides additional tools for those involved in inclusive work in schools and the community * Further develop problem solving and planning skills COURSE CONTENT The course answers the questions: * Need to find new ways to bring Pathway Planning alive? * Bored with annual reviews, transition plans and review meetings? * Want to find a way of making meetings and planning feel more real and engaging? * Need an approach, which engages a young person respectfully together with his or her family and friends? * Want the ultimate visual record of the process of a meeting, which will help everyone, keep track? * Want to problem solve and plan for the future of a small or large group, service or organisation up to the size of an LA? Inclusive Solutions offer an introductory day to person centred planning or a 3 – 10 session course which is practical as well as values based. Participants will receive direct individualised coaching and training. We will cover: * The person being at the centre * Family members and friends being full partners * Planning reflecting the person’s capacities, what is important to the person and specifying the support they require to make a full contribution to their community * Planning building a shared commitment to action that will uphold the person’s rights * Planning leading to continual listening, learning and action and helping the person get what they want out of life. * Essential Lifestyle Planning, * PATH [https://inclusive-solutions.com/product/path-process-step-by-step-guide/] * MAPS [https://inclusive-solutions.com/product/maps-process-step-by-step-guide/] * Personal Futures Planning.

FACILITATION SKILLS: PERSON CENTRED PLANNING

By Inclusive Solutions

Person Centred Planning: the act of listening to each other creates relationship and strengthening trust and inclusion within the team. If well facilitated In creating a shared vision, groups of people build a sense of commitment together. They develop images of the future they want to create together, along with the values that will be important in getting there and the goals they want to see achieved along the way. COURSE CATEGORY Person Centred Planning Team Building and Leadership DESCRIPTION How to facilitate Person Centred Planning? How is it different from any other kind of meeting or planning? Person Centred working is great – but how exactly is it facilitated? How does it differ from ‘chairing a meeting” What skills and processes enable the group to work together effectively and avoid going off at tangents or dissolving into an unfocussed ‘discussion’ Person Centred Planning: the act of listening to each other creates relationship and strengthening trust and inclusion within the team. If well facilitated In creating a shared vision, groups of people build a sense of commitment together. They develop images of the future they want to create together, along with the values that will be important in getting there and the goals they want to see achieved along the way. Making inclusive action plans using full participation and graphic facilitation Drawing on the planning tools MAPS [https://inclusive-solutions.com/product/maps-process-step-by-step-guide/] and PATH [https://inclusive-solutions.com/product/path-process-step-by-step-guide/] (Pearpoint, Forest and OBrien 1997) and other facilitation sources we use both process and graphic facilitation to enable the group to build their picture of what they would love to see happening within their organisation/community in the future and we encourage this to be a positive naming, not just a list of the things they want to avoid. In this training we make this facilitation explicit and attempt to model, teach and enable practice of key skills and processes. Jack Pearpoint, Marsha Forest and John O’Brien developed these innovative PCP approaches in North America and they are being used successfully in many parts of the UK.
