OVERVIEW This course sets out to develop attendee’s skills in understanding their own body language as well as being able to read the body language of others. If we can learn to identify and appreciate non-verbal clues, we can begin to improve our communication as a whole. This use of body language skills could impact situations such as; sales visits, interviews, presentations and normal day-to-day interactions where body language plays a part. DESCRIPTION Effective communication skills are critical in the development of relationships between people and although verbal communication plays a large part in this, studies have shown that a proportionate amount of our message comes from not what we say, but very often the non-verbal communication behind the message. Therefore, it is clear that body language is an important, influential aspect of communication and understanding how it works is essential in the development of your personal communication skills. Topics covered: * Core Principles and the Five C’s – Exploring the subconscious effects of body language and setting the scene by ensuring participants appreciate the rules to interpreting body language. * Reading Body Language – Gestures – An activity that helps participants realise the power of body language and how important it is to communication. * Arm Barriers – Understanding the different arm barrier gestures and crossed arm positions and what each means. * Palm and Handshake Gestures – Discussing the different handshakes and palm actions, what they mean and how they are applied in real life. Includes activities that test the theory. * Hand and Thumb Gestures – A review of these different gestures and what they mean. * Hand to Face Gestures…or… How to Spot a Liar! – An exploration of different gestures that involve the hand moving to the face. Identifying how to spot body language that signifies lying and what to watch out for. * Chin and Cheek Gestures – An activity that helps participants understand the different chin and cheek gestures and how to interpret this body language. * Eye Signals – A review of pupil dilation, directed gazes and eye accessing cues in order to fully understand how eyes provide body language clues. * Matching & Mirroring – Looking at the technique of building rapport and developing relationships through careful observation of body language. * Bringing it all Together – An activity that allows participants to embed their learning and realise how much they now understand and appreciate body language and its effect on communication. This is how it looks: Delegates booked on Classroom and In-House courses will continue to have access to their trainer online throughout the days that the course is booked to run. Prior to a delegate's course start date, they will be enrolled on our e-learning platform (in partnership with BCF Group [https://www.thebcfgroup.co.uk/management-training/ilm-level-3-award-leadership-and-management.php]) for the course they are booked on to. They will also be given contact information for their trainer, and details of how to access the online workshops. Delegates will not require any special IT equipment. Delegates taking ILM Qualifications will then proceed to the book review, video review and work based assignments with 12 months tutor support as appropriate, and in line with our previous arrangements. Course Introduction for VTCT upgrade The VTCT qualification is recognised around the world and will allow you to be employed in a clinic, salon or allow you to set up your own business. The Federation of Holistic Therapists and the Association of Reflexology, two of the biggest Holistic Therapy organisations which both accept members with this qualification. Description Reflexology uses many techniques to manipulate reflex zones found in the feet, of which correspond to a specific body part. The zones have been mapped and this enables the Reflexologist to treat the whole body via these reflex zones on the feet. The treatment is primarily used for the stimulation of all bodily systems and aiding relaxation. Reflexology is performed frequently within the Health Service personnel and has a role in comforting and supporting terminally ill patients. This 5 day VTCT Course leads to practitioner status, focusing on providing you with knowledge of the principles of reflexology, competence in dealing with clients, correct use of consultation techniques and good use of planning treatments. You will also learn the benefits and techniques of reflexology and how to target certain key areas such as: Pregnancy or Hand Massage. Duration 5 days, 10.00am – 5.30pm. You can then make a start on some of the theory work sent to you by us here at the Academy. This includes your Anatomy and Physiology assignments that you can work on in the privacy of your own home. This allows you to have more time to focus on the practical when the class meets together. Approx. 5-10 hours per week need to total your home study time spent. The home work will need to meet the quality of National Standards. You will also be expected to complete 100 reflexology treatments from the start to the end of the course. You will also need to complete some assignments that will be required for your portfolio and a work-book will need to be completed. There are also 2 small exams that will be taken at the Academy in order to assess your understanding of Health and Safety and Anatomy and Physiology.
