Originally from North Devon, I have lived and worked in various countries, particularly the Middle East and Mediterranean, and have been both influenced and inspired by the different cultures and architecture from my travels.  This combined with my keen interest in the environment, nature and the landscape, has provided me with the possibility of creating unique and individual pieces, whilst helping to preserve the natural beauty that surrounds us.   In 2003 I wanted these bright and cheerful mosaics to  withstand all weather conditions so through experimentation I developed this process.  My mosaic mirrors, panels and lamps and balls are designed for both indoor and all year garden display.   They can be used as wall panels – a feature among climbing plants, placed in a gloomy corner, floated on ponds and lakes, hung from trees or filled with solar lights all bringing a splash of colour to our dormant winter landscapes or creating a hint of “The Secret Garden’ beyond. I run a number of different courses and workshops every month to teach this uplifting and cheerful skill whether just as a day out with friends, learning a new hobby or wanting to  improve your skill.  Please contact me for more information.

The Art and Energy Collective is a group of artists, makers, thinkers and tinkerers who want to use our skills to respond to the climate emergency.  We specialise in designing mass participation artworks that help people connect with nature and take steps towards a brighter greener futures. We are interested in getting creative with energy systems, particularly those using natural energy, within all of life and through renewables.

Angelique and William are both highly qualified with over twenty years experience in their trades of ceramics sculpture and metal work, with many of those years teaching others . Pottery box was created from the vision they have always had of being able to share their skills with others so people can learn how to find their own inspiration and create for themselves. All this is achieved in tranquil and beautiful surroundings. Animal encounters evolved when children came to the pottery, who where struggling with learning difficulties, we would find they loved to see the animals while they where visiting and benefitted from the experience greatly.  Realising Just how great the combination of the two can relax you and reduce anxiety.

The Imaginary Mosaic Cafe is an online school of mosaic art run by mosaic artist and tutor , Kate Rattray. Kate is an award winning artist and has been making and teaching mosaic art for 25 years. She exhibits and sells her work nationally and internationally, and makes custom pieces for private and public clients.

WORKSHOP HIGHLIGHTS * Types of Clay and Making Techniques: Learn about the different clay bodies suitable for alternative firings and various making techniques. * Raku Glaze Application and Firing: Explore the process of raku glazing and firing. * Burnishing and Naked Raku: Get introduced to burnishing techniques and the two-step naked raku process. * Horsehair/Feather Firing: Experiment with adding unique effects using horsehair and feathers. * Saggar and Barrel Kilns: Make and fire a 'mummy' saggar, prepare pots with plant decorations for saggar firing, and load and fire a barrel kiln. MATERIALS AND PREPARATION * Bisqued Pieces: Participants should bring suitable bisqued pieces, either sculptural or vessel forms. Tapestry weaving is a traditional hand craft conducted on a wooden frame and used to create pictures, wall hangings, bags and cushion covers. Your sampler is made by weaving the yarn in and out. You will learn lots of weaving tips and techniques when you enrol in your course. The ‘Love Your Loom’ One Day course, will teach you a variety of tapestry weaving techniques on a frame loom in either the traditional or contemporary style. You choose! At the end of the day you will have completed your unique woven wall hanging to take home. All equipment, yarn and frames will be supplied. The classes are limited to 5 students so there is plenty of time for individual tutor time.

Le Breton Traditional is the business of Matthew Le Breton. As a teacher, craftsman and artist he brings over 20 years experience to teaching his glass classes. The classes take place at the Devon Applied Arts Workshop. A collaborative teaching workshop set up together with RAMP Ceramics to deliver quality craft teaching in the rolling fields of Mid Devon. The workshop is spacious with toilets, kitchen area, disabled access and plenty of parking.
