You are very welcome! Here you will find a warm welcome into the world of millinery, and especially to the fun side of hat-wearing, with colourful and quirky headpieces the firm favourite here. Whether you would like to buy a fascinator or make your own, you’ve come to the right place. Whether you are completely new to and a little nervous about the world of millinery, or a seasoned hat-wearer, I will be more than happy to work with you to create your perfect headpiece. From the quirkily sophisticated, to the fun and flamboyant there is a hatinator to suit any occasion and to showcase your personality. There are ready-made pieces available in the shop and most of these creations can also be adapted to match an outfit in different colours, so please feel free to ask if you don’t quite see what you are looking for. Wearing a fascinator or hat for the first time can be daunting, but I am here to help and advise in any way I can. If you are local then you are very welcome to make an appointment to come and see me in the studio, but I can always advise via email, phone or Zoom too. I don’t believe there are any rules to follow; confidence and comfort are key and my goal is for you to feel amazing on your special day so you can simply relax and let the compliments flow!

Born and raised in Birmingham, Tom has always been obsessed with making things. This obsession continued right through school and on to London where he studied furniture making. It was whilst in London his unusual style prompted his teacher to suggest he study sculpture. Taking his teachers advice after completing the year, he moved back to Birmingham and began his sculpture degree in Wolverhampton commuting daily before opting to move to West Wales School of Art - where they teach the fascinating process of bronze casting - to complete his degree. After completing his degree, Tom once again moved back to Birmingham where he continued his sculpture practise alongside working with family to further refine the carpentry and woodworking skills he learnt in London before setting up by himself a few years ago. The relatively recent decision to start offering courses came about almost by chance. The positive experience Tom had in West Wales ignited a desire to want to teach his skills to others – something that became even more apparent after taking on a couple of apprentices. However, with business being so busy it wasn’t until the apprentices highlighted the lack of woodworking courses available in the Birmingham area outside of full-time college or university courses. It was at this point Tom realised that this would be a great opportunity to give those interested in woodworking a way in without having to commit full time.

‘Stained Glassic’ (est. 2010) offers custom-made handpainted glass. With an excellence in design, glass painting, and drawing, Stained Glassic offers its services to a wide variety of global clients.  It covers traditional as well as contemporary methods and styles of stained glass making. Jamal has an interest in the visual arts and music since he was 5 years old. He always had meticulous eyes when it comes to observe and artistically interpret the visual world. His creative abilities enabled him to draw and paint with ease. Old school observation based skills of drawing and painting feature his work that one rarely experiences nowadays in modern artworks. Stained Glassic has a commitment to never send a commission out until the artist and the client are fully satisfied with the final outcome.

Rooted by materials, training and history to The Black Country village of the same name for over thirty years, using clay and metal to make truly unique pieces of use. At Woodsetton two generations and an upcoming third, have made their livings as designer makers for over 50 years. David Bates, a furniture designer and manufacture, and Gill Bates an antique dealer, later came together to work with pewter. The Victorian house and workshops which housed their early business was built by the Parkes family of Iron founders who were descendants of Abraham Derby 1st, and so there has been a long line of metal working at this address. For the latter 30 years Lorraine Bates has run a pottery here using stoneware and metal to make pieces of use. The combination of these two materials has an illustrious history in the Black Country in the shape of The Ruskin Pottery who made stoneware in The Arts and Crafts tradition and ethos which is still a strong influence on our work. Lorraine Bates and the team at Woodsetton, now have a history of making for galleries, museums and exhibitions in the UK, America, Japan and Europe.

Ash Tree Floral Designs is the venture of qualified florist Ashley Edwards. Her background in Art and Design means she is always searching for something visually unique and different. Taking her inspiration from the natural world you can expect something a little wild and relaxed but always beautiful and contemporary. Ashley creates her designs using a combination of British flowers, high quality imported flowers from Holland and a selection of her homegrown blooms. Wedding florals are Ashley’s speciality, please browse her website and social media to see examples of her style and latest work. Ashley works from her studio at the Old Print Works, Balsall Heath, Birmingham. She is midlands born and bred and currently lives in Kings Heath with her Husband Evan and her cat Peggy.
