Introduction to Hand Building and Sculpture and opportunity for others to increase skill -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SERVICE DESCRIPTION 8 week, 2.5 hour sculpture course. Get your creativity back! Hand Building and sculpture class for students with little to no experience and those with some experience in clay sculpture. You will learn the basics of Hand Building and sculpture in clay; how to create mugs, vases and sculptures from pinch pots, slabs and solid blocks of clay. In this course we will be working to create torso vases/wooden spoon holders, tea light cottages as well as sculpted plant pots etc. I love to work with different colour media and surface design. I encourage my students to do the same and have equipped The EPS with underglazes, slips, oxides and glazes to allow for a wide range of choices for decorating your work. I have been throwing and hand building for 20 years and learned many skills along the way that I will share with you to ensure that you succeed in this class and leave with pieces that you are proud of. Ceramics - Throwing, Tiles And Press Moulds Taster

Ideal as an introduction to working with clay using a selection of approaches. ABOUT THIS EVENT Cyan Clayworks is an artist-run, non profit studio and teaching space. This three hour introductory class is suitable for adult beginners, and will focus on tile making, press moulded dishes and wheel throwing. Each student will be introduced to the basics of throwing; centering the clay, and forming a small vessel each. You will be able to create a small group of unique textured and coloured slip decorated tiles and a pressmoulded dish using one of our moulds. Limited class sizes with both Fiona and Chris teaching so lots of hands on support! You will be given one to one support while on the wheel. Your work will be trimmed (wheelthrown pots), fired and glazed ready to collect a few weeks later. You'll be notified by email and will then have a month to collect your pieces. £60 per person, inclusive of booking fee, materials, preparation, glazing and firings.

We are a Scottish Qualifications Authority Approved Teaching centre dedicated to delivering a high quality learning experience across a range of learning pathways from beginners to intermediate and advanced classes.
