Join artist and writer Julie Galante for this creative exploration of the season. Combining visual art, writing, and crafting, this workshop will get you trying new things in a small, welcoming group all summer long. Each week we’ll cover specific creative techniques and apply them to our investigations of the world around us. We’ll fill our sketchbooks up with writing and images prompted by a series of creative assignments which will have us out exploring the natural and built environment (although many of them can also be completed from the comfort of home). Each participant will be encouraged to deepen their explorations in whatever direction interests them most - be it a series of written reflections, sketches, collages, photographs, mixed-media pieces, or a unique, personal combination of all these. This small-group workshop includes four live sessions (via Zoom) with Julie, and ‘homework assignments’ for participants to complete in between live sessions. There will be an optional Facebook group for participants to stay connected and share their creations with each other between sessions. Julie will be journalling in her home city of Edinburgh, and you are welcome to join in from any place in the world. The group will be kept small to ensure plenty of opportunities for interaction, sharing, and feedback.

Suitable for people of all levels of experience; from those who are new to watercolour painting, to more experienced artist, this foundational course in watercolour painting, unites primary techniques so that you can expand your creativity in one coherent approach. Learn Life Drawing for Beginners Workshop Saturday 29th June- 10:45-14:30 - Friends Meeting House, Manchester Welcome to our upcoming life drawing workshop for beginners. This is an opportunity for beginner artists to come together and learn new techniques and skills in capturing the human form from a live model. Because we believe that life drawing is an essential skill for all artists, whether you're interested in figurative work, portraiture, or any other type of art that involves the human body. During this workshop you will have the chance to practice drawing the human body in a variety of poses and perspective using different techniques. Our experienced instructors will guide you through the process, providing helpful tips on anatomy, proportion and composition and individual feedback to help you overcome any challenges you may face, so you can learn to draw the human figure more confidently and competently. We will be working with a professional life model who will hold a series of poses throughout the workshop. These poses will range from short gesture poses to longer, more sustained poses, giving you plenty of opportunities to practice capturing the human form in different positions and angles. All you need to bring is your creativity and enthusiasm to improve your drawing skills, and we will provide all the drawing materials required for this course. Please note that this is a nude drawing workshop, and attendees are to be 18 years or older. We ask that attendees under 18 years of age be accompanied by a responsible adult. This is to ensure that all participants feel comfortable and safe during the workshop. In addition, refreshments including tea, coffee and food can be purchased at the bar, however you are also welcome to bring your own lunch if you wish. Our Tuesday evening life drawing session is fun, chatty, sketchy and arty. Join the regulars and newbies alike for two hours of sketching the nude human form. Different models each week and basic art materials can be supplied.

'Introduction to Off-Loom Weaving' workshop in the beautiful setting of Fisherton Mill in Salisbury, Wiltshire. Learn how to select the right yarns for your weaving project and use branches, stones and other items from nature as your loom. Spend a day learning basic weaving techniques in this relaxed & informative beginners weaving workshop. All materials and equipment are provided and you will leave with a clear handout of notes and your first woven pieces, made from organic cotton and linen, and many more sustainable materials.

Tulips in the Style of the Dutch Masters 5th May 2024 Sunflowers in the style of Van Gogh 17th August 2024 Dahlias in the style of Monet 14th September 2024 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What to expect on the workshop The day will begin at 10am with an introductory talk by Bryony about oil painting. Fiona will talk about the tulips we will be studying, how to pick them, the colour and form of the different varieties of the tulips followed by picking from the field and arranging in vases. Late morning Bryony will lead a guided step by step painting session. Lunch will be provided followed by an afternoon of painting. The day will conclude with feedback and a walk through of the paintings at 4pm. All materials, lunch and refreshments including easels and canvases will be provided Bryony Knight is a professional Artist, based in North Norfolk where she specialises in Oil Painting. Her work is inspired by the North Norfolk coastline, towns and woodlands where she lives - she enjoys using colour as a way to bring vibrancy to her landscapes. She became the UK's only Oil Painting Apprentice by Martin Kinnear in 2016, during which she was fully submerged into traditional oil painting techniques and studio craft for over 5 years.
