This ongoing course will cover an introduction to patchwork on the sewing machine. &nbsp; Over 6 sewing sessions with some homework you will create this&nbsp;fabulous &#39;Tea with Penelope&#39; quilt by Living in Loveliness finished size 42 x 42 inches. [105 x 105 cm]. You will have the pattern to keep (RRP &pound;9.99) with instructions and colour photos.&nbsp;
Once you have booked on I will give you the shopping list (don&#39;t forget you can also shop from your stash and/or wardrobe) with instructions on what fabrics to buy. &nbsp;If you need any guidance feel free to call or drop into the studio. &nbsp;You will also need a quarter inch presser foot for your sewing machine.&nbsp;
Initially we will learn how to cut accurately using the rotary cutter and rulers. &nbsp;Then moving on to creating the blocks. &nbsp;Then piecing the quilt top. &nbsp;Once all that cutting and stitching is done we will create a quilt sandwich and quilt using the machine. &nbsp;&nbsp;Last but not least we will learn how to attach and finish the binding. &nbsp;

Every session will be held in the sewing studio upstairs at Stitching Kitchen, we will stop for a cuppa and cake half way through. &nbsp;

This workshop is a slow and steady mindful stitching class where we will use linen and wool fabrics to create an appliqu&eacute; design of your choice. &nbsp;Using a range of simple but effective embroidery stitches in thicker thread to stand out with the woollen fabrics.This class is suitable for all and will allow us all to slow down, appreciate the fabrics and thread and put our busy lives aside for a few hours. &nbsp;Linen and wool are my favourite fabrics to hand stitch with.Your design may not be complete at the end of the session but you can take away all you need in terms of materials and knowledge to complete your textile art at home. &nbsp;You can frame your creation or use in a cushion or to decorate a bag. &nbsp;As always tea, cake are included in the workshop price along with all materials and tuition.&nbsp;

Strawflower Quilt - Patchwork & Quilting for Beginners 

Join us for a day of dressmaking with our tutor Emma Smith.Emma has a wealth of dressmaking experience and teaches for sewing studios and pattern company retreats across the UK. &nbsp;&nbsp;
Learn how to adjust a printed pattern to fit you. &nbsp;Emma will teach you how to measure your body and create a toile/muslin in order to get a perfect fit to your bodice.

A very common adjustment is to allow for a larger bust. &nbsp;It is often known as a Full Bust Adjustment or FBA. &nbsp;Once you know how to make this alteration to your paper patterns your dressmaking will be transformed for ever!&nbsp;

You&rsquo;ll make a muslin/toile and then be able to make further adjustments to your pattern. &nbsp;Sheeting and pattern paper will be provided. &nbsp;You may wish to make the final version in your chosen fabric so bring along Lightweight cotton fabric, 150cm wide, 1.5m or 114cm wide, 1.8m to make the final garment.&nbsp;

If you are new to sewing or just want some tuition to improve your techniques or learn to read and follow a pattern this is the sewing workshop for you!

During the day we will make a simple on-trend dungaree or pinafore dress &lsquo;CLEO&rdquo; the Tilly and the Buttons pattern (included in the workshop cost). Hannah will teach you how to choose the right size for you, how to prepare the fabric and pattern to be set up for success. You can choose to create this design in either a mini or knee length dress.

Bring your machine or borrow one from the studio to construct pinafore or dungaree dress. Help is available all day as your create your garment.

I will be in touch before the workshop with a guide to how much fabric you will need and suggested retailers to purchase your fabric. Threads and other notions are available at Stitching Kitchen on the day.

A broomstick lace knitting project. &nbsp; This project is suitable for those with some knitting experience, if you can cast on, cast off, increase and decrease this is the project for you. &nbsp;Vee will guide you through the fundamentals of broomstick lace knitting and build your skills so you will be confident to pick up a knitting pattern and make a start.In this two and a half hour session you will build on your existing skills to learn broomstick lace. &nbsp; Vee is an excellent tutor who is a life long tutor, she is passionate about sharing her skills.&nbsp;All equipment and yarn is included in the course and you will have the pattern and needles to practice at home. &nbsp;You will also receive a cuppa and cake along with a warm welcome and a supportive and inclusive learning environment.&nbsp;

During this two-hour session you will learn how to get the best possible print from the extensive collection of hand carved Indian Blocks I have in my workshop.&nbsp;
I will provide plenty of blocks to get your imagination running, this is an easy craft and ideal for everyone young and old and for any reluctant crafters, it makes for a fun activity for a party or gathering.&nbsp; You will print up a plain item or two to take home and I always have a wide range of textile paint to help you on the way.&nbsp;
You will go home with a completed item or perhaps two which are fully machine washable.&nbsp;
Refreshments are provided and I have a stock of new blocks and paints to purchase if you get bitten by the block printing bug.&nbsp;

What&#39;s included -&nbsp;All materials are included, plain fabric to experiment on, a variety of fabric paints and a couple of projects to take away [tote bag, tea towel].&nbsp;Extra blank items can be purchased at the workshop as well as blocks and fabric paints to continue the crafting at home.
What to bring -&nbsp;do bring an apron and wear older clothes, we will be working with fabric paints which don&rsquo;t wash out!!! Apart from that, just bring yourself as all materials and equipment are included in this workshop.&nbsp;

During this two-hour session you will learn how to get the best possible print from the extensive collection of hand carved Indian Blocks I have in my workshop.

5 Week course using drawing as a process to play with both traditional materials and textile processes, to develop playfulness and experimentation as a tool for design and art directions.

Drawing for Textiles: 1 (Blended Online)

This workshop is designed to take you through making several styles of Dorset button. You&#39;ll start with a crosswheel, the most popular and easiest style to make, and progress through various stitching techniques to make different styles of Dorset ring buttons. You will cover changing threads, finishing techniques, attaching to a garment, and what materials you can use.You will need:&nbsp;4 x 25mm rings; 2 x 29mm rings; 4ply sock yarn or equivelent in two colours; size 18 tapestry materials; snips or scissors. You can use other sizes, and threads if you have them. There are instructions in the course for measuring thread, types of materials ect.
