this is a three week course for a total of 6 hours, 2 hours each Wednesday 1st, 8th and 15th September.
This is the perfect sewing course for you if you are a complete beginner wishing to have a thorough introduction to using a sewing machine, learning different sewing techniques. This course consists of three two hour sessions&nbsp; or a 6 hours day course, in which you will be taken from the very basics of setting up and threading a sewing machine to making a tote bag or storage basket, to a wash bag complete with zip and a cushion cover with buttons.
&nbsp;
You can bring your sewing machine with you, or use one of ours.
You can use our materials for the first two projects but I would suggest you provide your own material and buttons for the cushion to match your decor.

Sewing for complete beginnersThis is a fun and practical class for those who want to start their sewing journey in a small friendly group in a beautiful garden sewing studio in Walthamstow. Jennie has been teaching for over 13 years and really understands what students need from a class. Her studio is well equipped and comfortable, you will learn everything you need to give you confidence to tackle simple sewing at home afterwards and she will even give you a copy of her sewing handbook to take home! Friendly sociable small classes for all the one to one support you need, great also as a starting point before learning dressmaking, quilting, etc.&nbsp;The class will cover setting up a machine, learning about thread, bobbins, needles, feet, fabric, basic maintenance, tools, making seams and hems, understanding seam allowances, and you will create a cushion cover to take home with you.You will also get a copy of my sewing handbook to take home (RRP&pound;15) so you won&#39;t have to take notes!Everything you need is included in the class, just bring lunch and any plant milk or unusual tea!The class will finish around 3.30pm

You can decide to make either a ceiling fitting or standard lamp fitting.

Join us for a day of dressmaking with our tutor Emma Smith.Emma has a wealth of dressmaking experience and teaches for sewing studios and pattern company retreats across the UK. &nbsp;&nbsp;
Learn how to adjust a printed pattern to fit you. &nbsp;Emma will teach you how to measure your body and create a toile/muslin in order to get a perfect fit to your bodice.

A very common adjustment is to allow for a larger bust. &nbsp;It is often known as a Full Bust Adjustment or FBA. &nbsp;Once you know how to make this alteration to your paper patterns your dressmaking will be transformed for ever!&nbsp;

You&rsquo;ll make a muslin/toile and then be able to make further adjustments to your pattern. &nbsp;Sheeting and pattern paper will be provided. &nbsp;You may wish to make the final version in your chosen fabric so bring along Lightweight cotton fabric, 150cm wide, 1.5m or 114cm wide, 1.8m to make the final garment.&nbsp;

Things like threading and filling bobbins, as well as how to clean the machines and things to check when it doesn&#39;t sew properly. If you have a machine and would like some help getting to know your machine, I am now offering one to one sessions in the studio.
They will include: A 2 hour one to one session to cover getting to know your machine, threading, filling bobbins, changing needles, cleaning, experimenting with stitches, stitch length etc and to make a simple tote bag with French Seams and Top Stitching to put into practice, some of the techniques. 
All materials provided ready cut. Just bring your machine with the accessories and instruction booklet.

Join Lindsey for a day of sewing in the light, bright airy and spacious Sewing Studio at Stitching Kitchen. &nbsp;Bring your overlocker or sewing machine and spend the day creating your very own cuddle tunic by Ellie and Mac Patterns. &nbsp; Lindsey is our stretch fabric expert and can help you make this super cosy tunic to fit you.We will provide a copy of the pattern to use on the day and Lindsey will be on hand to help you with all aspects of the construction of your garment from selection of the right size for you and cutting your pattern pieces. &nbsp;She will help you to learn how to cut fabric efficiently using a rotary cutter and self healing mat. &nbsp;Once all the preparations are complete you will make up the garment using an overlocker or sewing machine.&nbsp;You will need to bring along your fabrics and full details of what you need will be provided ahead of the workshop. &nbsp;Lindsey is a rep for UK Stretch Fabrics who will be able to provide a discount bundle for the class details to follow via email. &nbsp;As aways you will have a fun time in a supportive and inclusive environment, with a cuppa and cake to keep you going during the workshop.&nbsp;
