One of the things I've been spending a lot of time doing with some of my learners is showing them how to work their machines. Things like threading and filling bobbins, as well as how to clean the machines and things to check when it doesn't sew properly. If you have a machine and would like some help getting to know your machine, I am now offering one to one sessions in the studio.
They will include:
A 2 hour one to one session to cover getting to know your machine, threading, filling bobbins, changing needles, cleaning, experimenting with stitches, stitch length etc and to make a simple tote bag with French Seams and Top Stitching to put into practice, some of the techniques.
All materials provided ready cut. Just bring your machine with the accessories and instruction booklet.
Delivered In-Person
This is an in person class.
All materials are provided
If you want to bring your own sewing kit (scissors, rotary cutter etc,) and/or sewing machine, you are more than welcome to do so. However, there are machines available to use. If you want to get to know your own machine, then please do bring it along
Tea, coffee, squash and some snacks will be available. You may wish to bring your own cup. If you need to bring lunch, then please bring a packed lunch. There is a small fridge in the studio
My name is Jane and I've been sewing and crafting from a young age. My mum shared her love of being creative and it hasn’t ever left me. I now have the confidence to start any sewing project, going from an idea in my mind, to working out a pattern, to threading my sewing machine and finishing a project.
My mission is to help people find joy in sewing, particularly patchwork and quilting. I want to make sure everyone can sew with confidence, whether they are a complete beginner or have been sewing for years. I do this by sharing the knowledge and skills I wished I'd known when I first started.
I've been delivering classes online for a number of years and it's a real delight to be able to invite people to sew with me in the studio
