The extended project was devised by Sir Mike Tomlinson in 2006, during his review of 16 to 19 year olds' education. It is offered by EdExcel, OCR, AQA and CIE. The students' choice of topic is free and can be related to their current course of study or future career. It takes the forms of either a dissertation or a created artefact. This course is a Meta Course so that students can be added to ALL the three "prepped" courses at once, Our highly flexible, empowering and unique distance learning programme, Prepped, contains 3 units each consisting of 10 modules. All units are Level 1 and an AQA is awarded for each unit which builds into a portfolio of work. Study can be taken at the young persons pace - one unit per week that equates to three terms/one academic year, or the whole programme can be completed in a few weeks! 1) Register Registration lasts for one academic year (September to August) and entitles your child to take as many units as they want. You will need to register your child and pay for registration before you can purchase units. 2) Learn Once registered you can log in to our members area and purchase units either on their own or as a package. This will give you access to the standardised assessment documents and guidance advice. 3) Achieve Once your child has gathered the evidence required, check it against the unit criteria and send it to us for marking and moderation. You will receive your child's certificates within10-14 days. FAQ's 1) How long does it take to study a unit? This depends on your child and their interest. Many units can be achieved very quickly as they are designed to be achievable. 2) How many units can my child study? As many as they wish in each academic year, September 1st - August 31st. 3) What if I need help or guidance? You will receive a welcome pack which explains the process in detail. Our contact details are included so if you have any further queries you can phone or email us. If you need guidance first, please complete the enquiry form. 4) Which level should my child study? This is entirely up to you and will be influenced by the subject area/s they are interested in.
