The Wood Academy

A really terrific and fun day's woodworking with Rich. As a beginner to carpentry I learned a huge amount under Rich's patient tutoring and came away with a stool I was really proud of. My disbelieving family thought I'd bought it! I'd highly recommend a day's workshop - lots of fun and always very safe.

We booked a one day wood working course with Rich and it was ABSOLUTELY brilliant. He was fab from beginning to end from tailoring the day around us (three ladies and a dog) to making us breakfast and taking us through all the basics of wood working. The barn is lovely, on a farm in a lovely village, wood burning stove and every possible type of power or hand tool imaginable. Best day ever and I can't wait to return. I might even book for my kids as the expert knowledge is invaluable for ever...

Had a great time working on this project at The Wood Academy with Rich. Had a one day ticket (a birthday present) to work on a project of my choice and try out a few new skills. I chose the classic beginner project of a milking stool to practice a few new (to me) techniques. Rich walked me through them all patiently, safely and with good humour, and with plenty of tea and the odd slice of cake to boot. Learnt lots and improved my knowledge and ability in wood working no end. Hope to go back ...

I really enjoyed my course at the Wood Academy ,Richard was a good teacher and there was a good range of tools to use. I needed to polish up my skills and produce better quality work and I was able to do this. I was a bit slow, but that was fine. Lunch ,cooked on the stove was good and at the end I had a beautiful bench that I am very proud of. I will be going back to learn how to sharpen tools properly.

Rich is a friendly, patient, and extremely knowledgable teacher. He provides a great space to learn in, and makes a world class egg bap on the fire (although I can't confirm this will be available as part of every package). I would recommend him to anyone, no experience needed. I haven't touched a saw for about 20 years, and with Rich's help made this milking stool. Enough said.
