The City Baths, Newcastle

Bought a day pass . For the price of a standard membership I was disappointed with this gym and pool. Also the Turkish bath always seems to be closed. This was probably the only reason I went.

The City Baths is a great gym. It has excellent facilities and amazing members of staff.

Normal baths not made for intensive swimming. Only three lanes and no big clock with seconds at all. Also, no cold shower available for after the sauna, that’s not good for the body. Swimming pool itself isn’t cold enough for that. Sauna was lovely though. And I would like some music while swimming. Wouldn’t pay for it to be honest.

Fantastic facilities including gym, pool and sauna. The staff are really friendly and I have found the customer service to be excellent. Good value and nice and convenient for the city centre. This by far the best pool I have been a member of.

I was surprised by some negative reviews as for me the staff have been super helpful and friendly . I only use the pool but as a regular swimmer it’s good value and will be great to be able to go again without booking at weekends . I would remove half a star for cleanliness ! It’s fine now but already the grouting in the showers is getting old with touches of rust . Over all I love the vibe and they have adapted well to the Covid restrictions
