Great club, very friendly. Course always in great condition

Dear Sir/Madam. I Went to the club to play as a guest of a member on Monday the 9th of January 2023 my .I had checked on the website that the course was open and saw it said open.Did that mean the course not sure how else I could interpret it. On arrival I found the course was closed. The golf course is terrific, with the greens being stand-out and are among the best you’ll play on as an amateur; true, fast, receptive and many of them very large but none are an easy 2-putt. There were some drainage issues and many of the fairways had become bogs due to combining poor drainage with over-use, no roping off and allowing more than just push trolleys but efforts since covid have helped get them back where they were. We used the venue for a wedding reception, our hosts were wonderful. The staff were very prompt and friendly. The venue itself was very clean, tidy, beautifully laid out and really fit for purpose. The golf course looked beautiful as well. I liked the electric gate system they had, no fears about any randoms showing up uninvited. I'd happily attend another function and hope I get the opportunity again very soon.

This review is for the function area only and not for the golf course. I just attended our works Christmas meal, they were catering for around 60 guests so it was a fairly busy event. The bar staff doubled up as waiters and waitresses and when food was being served it was difficult to get a drink, as all the staff except for one were waiting on tables.
