About The British Council For Chinese Martial Arts

The British Council for Chinese Martial Arts (BCCMA) working title ‘the Council’ would like to extend a warm welcome to all Clubs, Associations of Clubs, or Federations of Associations of Clubs, practising the Chinese Martial Arts in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It would also like to extend an invitation to you to join the ‘family’ of organisations already represented and and become a full member of your sports, Governing Body. HISTORY ‘The Council’ was set up in accordance with the UK Sports Council’s guidelines in 1973 and was granted Sports Council Recognised Governing Body status in 1980. Currently we have 112 Organisations/Associations/Clubs in membership, representing over 10,000 members across all of the major disiplines of Chinese Martial Arts. Its Constitution sets out the Organisational make up and management structure, with an elected Executive and Mangement Committee who are directly responsible to its members via a Member Council which meet at least once a year at an Annual General Meeting (AGM). Members have the right to dissolve the 9 man Executive Committee and 4 man Management Committee at any time giving due regard to the time requirements and process of the constitution.
