Description

I always think it's amazing what you can do with just 1 crochet stitch, a couple of basic techniques and a couple of hours. And that's pretty much all you'll need to crochet this Rosebud Card Case.

Learning any new craft is all about repetition and this simple make is a great way to get some practice in. We'll look at creating foundation rows, crocheting continuously in the round, colour changing and how to use simple stitches and techniques to add fancy edges and decorative flowery details. And all using just a few chains and the single crochet stitch (US terms).

This workshop takes place online so you will need to have access to ZOOM and the materials listed below to crochet-along. Great for adventurous beginners looking to develop their crochet, but also fab for refreshing forgotten skills or if you just fancy having a go. Classes are kept small so it's not too overwhelming and everyone gets plenty attention and the opportunity to ask questions.

What you'll need to craft along . . .

  • a 4.0mm crochet hook

  • aran weight yarn*

  • other aran weight or double-knit yarns for decorative details*

  • a stitch marker

  • a big eye needle

  • scissors

  • a cuppa tea and a biscuit

*I used Scheepjes Cahlista (Scarlet) and Rico Creative Cotton Aran (Black) as my main yarns and some other double knits I happened to have. You won't need too much of anything so ideal for using up odds and ends from your yarn basket.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is this CAL suitable for beginners?

Absolutely! If you're learning a new craft I always think it's way more important to start with something you actually want to make regardless of difficulty. You'll be more inclined to push yourself, you'll enjoy the process way more and hopefully you'll love the finished make and be inspired to learn more.

  • Can I use a different hook and yarns?

Yep! Crochet is usually very adaptable if you don't have the correct hook or want to you use yarns you happen to have. For this make size is important for function, but the pattern can be modified to suit whatever materials you have available.

If you are an absolute beginner I would recommend trying to get the hook and yarns suggested to make life a little easier for yourself.
