Pitch Perfect Music

Perfect pitch is the ability to hear a note and know its name (C, E flat, G sharp etc) without a point of reference. It is an invaluable skill in music transcription, as it allows one to listen to the music and type out the notes as they are heard (often with a MIDI piano keyboard), in much the same way as a linguistic transcriber types the words as they hear them on a QWERTY keyboard.
