Joining the Wednesday afternoon Section is subject to consultation with Gloria Bonnell at gloria.bonnell@ndtc.org.uk before booking your class. This is so Gloria can ascertain your dog&#39;s background and the type of training he/she has had. if any, this information gets you and your dog into the correct class for your needs. Also, to confirm class availability.&nbsp;Training is in all weather, so appropriate clothing is required.Note: in high temperatures of over 24, or extreme wet, snow or ice, please check our club Facebook page for information regarding closures.&nbsp;We have a puppy class for those available on&nbsp;a Wednesday afternoon, which covers the puppy foundation and basic puppy training. Once completed, you can move on to other classes to continue your training.&nbsp; Our Wednesday afternoon training covers the three levels of the KC Good Citizen dog training scheme, which will be covered in your class. Flyball is suitable for most breeds of dogs, as long as they are fit and healthy, however, each dog is assessed on an individual basis. The competition event is a relay and sees 2 teams of 4 dogs, racing side by side over a 51-foot long course. Each dog must run in turn over the 4 jumps, trigger a flyball box releasing a ball, catch the ball and return over the jumps. The next dog is released, in relay fashion, to run over the course but can&rsquo;t cross the start/finish line until the previous dog has returned passed through. The first team to have all 4 dogs finish the course without an error wins. Each team consists of a maximum of 6 dogs with handlers and a box loader.

 Flyball training is at NDTC and takes place on Monday evenings from 19:00 until 20:00 (excluding bank holidays). However, in poor weather conditions (wet or slippery ground) it is extremely likely that the training will be cancelled as this can be dangerous for both dog and handler. We are excited to offer a 9-week mainstream training workshop to NDTC members. BEGINNERS WORKSHOP BRONZE WORKSHOP SILVER WORKSHOP (members must have passed their KCGCDS Bronze award) GOLD WORKSHOP (members must have passed their KCGCDS Silver award) At the end of the 9-week workshop, the member has the opportunity to, take the Kennel Club Good Citizen Bronze/Silver/Gold Award Assessment, with an invited Kennel Club, registered assessor. Each week the group will cover separate elements of the workshop. At the beginning of each week&#39;s session, there will be a recap on the previous week&rsquo;s content, to see how the practice at home went, and any questions and queries. Classes are every Thursday at 10:00 11:00 &amp; 12:00,
&nbsp;Scent work is when a dog uses its sense of smell to identify and locate a scent that it has been trained to detect. Dogs have a highly sensitive nose, vastly superior to our own.
 Scent work is a natural behaviour for a dog and is essential in hunting and finding prey. As man&rsquo;s best friend, this behaviour has been put to many uses &ndash; for example in police work, search and rescue, and hunting. 
As a dog sport, Scent work has emerged from detection style nose work as practised by customs and excise, explosives detection, search and rescue and medical detection dogs.&nbsp;
Scentwork UK has been set up to promote and develop scent work as a dog sport and training activity throughout the country. It is open to anyone whether you are a pet dog owner or a more advanced dog trainer. 
It is suitable for all breeds and ages, puppies and dogs with injuries or disabilities &ndash; scentwork is a non-injurious sport. As a training activity, scentwork is fun, very rewarding and at the same time mentally tiring for your dog. 
It will improve the relationship between you and your dog and is a great confidence builder, especially for a shy dog. You can participate whether it is just to have a bit of fun or take it further and enter trials and gain qualifications.
