Northern Realist Drawing & Painting

I can highly recommend Northern Realist Drawing & Painting. I've done 2 online portrait painting courses with Chris and found the skills and techniques I've learned invaluable. Chris' teaching method is clear and methodical with a video of the lesson posted soon after to follow at your own speed. He's a super talented painter with a wealth of experience and I would highly recommend him to artists of all levels.

I completed a 6 week online portrait painting course. He really took us back to the fundamentals of colour. I felt it was accessible to beginners and also useful for more advanced painters.

The courses I have taken with Chris have vastly improved my portrait drawing and no longer do I shy away from the face when at life drawing classes. It was really good being out of my comfort zone as much sometimes frustrating but by participating with a group and with Chris’ insightful navigation and at times refreshing and thought provoking philosophical approaches to drawing and painting forced this confrontation for me to improve on which I probably would still be leaving a blank ! I've done two of Chris' courses now and not only learnt a lot but really enjoyed them. It's great to be able to see other people's work as well as your own so you learn from everyone's successes and mistakes. Chris has an absolute wealth of knowledge and is a fab teacher!
