Mcgovern Academy

I joined McGovern academy back in 2011, when I moved local to the area. It’s been a great place to unwind with top class instructors. We now have 6 black belts and many brown belts.

I've been training here since April 2019 and it's brilliant. Simon is an excellent teacher, hugely knowledgeable and experienced. He conveys the techniques (and the theories behind them) in a clear, simple manner. Loads of classes on the timetable for bjj, submission wrestling & striking, multiple black belts, great training partners and everyone is very helpful if you need a pointer here and there too. My 8yo daughter loves the kids classes! Highly recommended 👍

First of all, I want to say thank you to Simon and everyone at McGovern Academy for the warm welcome. Been training here for around 4 months now, started as a complete beginner. Everybody was extremely welcoming and I have met lots of great people, it is very much a family atmosphere. Trained here for 15 months and what I can say about this place is 1) extremely friendly environment able to transmit great motivation to achieve whatever your goal is; 2) 2 very highly experienced real black belts, not a little thing when you hear about guys pretending to be what they are not.
