I joined the club in 2007 after moving to Manchester and having no gay friends in the area. I’d had a break from playing rugby and wanted to get back in to playing, but wasn’t sure if I’d be welcomed in a “regular” club. Looking back, I’m sure I would have been as rugby is generally very inclusive, but I’m glad I joined the Spartans as I’ve made lifelong friends and has some amazing experiences including tours in the US, Europe and Australia.
