EVERY TUESDAY FOR SIX WEEKS

5pm - 9pm

A friendly, no-nonsense course about recording techniques including types of mics and how to use them.

• Techniques for recording specific instruments: drums, guitar and bass amps, pianos, vocals and more,
• Using mic preamps and setting levels.
• Mic specs: polar and frequency responses, sensitivity etc.,
• Types of mics - dynamic, condenser etc.,
• Multi-miking techniques - benefits and pitfalls,
• Stereo miking techniques,
• Appropriate use of DI boxes,
• Record routing and monitoring.

You will make a full recording as a group. At the end, you can take away the stems to do what you like with (subject to permission).

This course leads directly on to Stage 2, in which we look at acoustics, complex recordings, editing and post-production.
