Kathryn James - Mountain Expertise

Thank you Kath! Was supposed to be on a 2 day winter skills course but sadly no snow in snowdonia but we made the best of the situation. The first day went scrambling in Ogwen valley, we’re we did some scrambles I haven wanted to do it a long while which was great and I learnt lots of skills to be Abel to go out scrambling myself. The second day went climbing on Holyhead Mountain! We did a couple of routes and look at other skills to give me more confidence while climbing!

I booked a winter climbing refresher 1:1 day for my partner who had not climbed for a few years. The idea behind it was to ensure he was up to date with skills, techniques and find out what grade he was comfortable at before we head out together. A big ask for a single day. I was so impressed with the quick booking, easy communication, and the way Kathryn worked hard to accommodate what we needed with fairly short notice! Kath was our guide in Idwal Slabs and she was absolutely fantastic! She made us feel very safe and we had a lot of fun. Her knowledge of the area was exceptional. We would highly recommend her to anyone visiting the area! Scrambling was a great way to see the beautiful scenery of the area.

I loved Kathryn's instruction and leadership. Her knowledge and experience made me feel in super safe hands, as a beginner. I had a lot of respect for her focus on the learning and the technical and really enjoyed her sense of fun and warmth. Hugely skilled, supportive and genuinely motivational. I hope to be learning more with her on my climbing journey!

Brilliant day with Kath out on Tryfan going through scrambling and teaching scrambling-loads of valuable learning covered throughout the day in a practical and hands on way that got the best out of me. Kath is great to be out on the mountains with and has so much experience that showed throughout the day. 1000000% highly recommended.
