Ione Harrison Art

Painting mainly in watercolour and ink, Ione’s art is inspired by the natural world around her and the land and seascapes of her childhood. Her paintings capture the ever-changing light and mood of moor, hill, woodland and coastline. With an abstract, expressionistic quality to her art, she paints mainly with colours in a minor key, rather than the main points of the colour spectrum, accented with inky vibrancy, to realise a sense of shape, colour, pattern and texture that evokes a spiritual truth present in the landscape - deeply embedded in nostalgia and her sense of place. Drawing on inspiration from both her childhood in Yorkshire and her travels around the globe, she incorporates the rich heat-soaked colours of the Middle East and Asia to create atmospheric images that transcend the physical world revealing a metaphysical sense of being.
