The course is a four hour refresher session for those who have completed the Mental Health First Aid two or one day course. Just like physical first aid, we recommend you refresh your skills regularly and keep up-to-date. The four-hour MHFA Refresher course will support MHFAiders® by:  * Renewing their skills  * Updating their knowledge of mental health supports  * Giving them the chance to practice applying the Mental Health First Aid action plan  * Providing them access to three years of MHFAider® support and benefits Please note the MHFA Refresher is only for people who have previously complete the MHFA course. FORMAT * This is a half day course delivered online   * Learning takes place through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities * We limit numbers to 25 people per course so that the instructor can keep people safe and supported while they learn What are the MHFAider support & benefits? This one day course trains you as an MHFA Champion, giving you: an understanding of common mental health issues, knowledge & confidence to advocate for mental health awareness, ability to spot signs of mental ill health, and skills to support positive wellbeing. Available online or face-to-face.

What is Mental Health First Aid? Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognised training course which teaches people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis. MHFA England training won’t teach you to be a therapist, but just like physical first aid, it will teach you to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis. Adult MHFA England courses are for everyone aged 16 upwards. Every MHFA England course is delivered by a quality assured Instructor Member who has attended our Instructor Training programme accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health, and is trained to keep people safe and supported while they learn. What will I learn? − A deeper understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect people’s wellbeing, including your own − Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues − Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress − Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening − Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to appropriate support.
